Why did I get a communication ban?

I usually retaliate when someone either shoots me or if they're playing music down the mic. I had one guy blatantly shoot me dead from behind so I killed him the round after and then another guy was playing his music, due to not being able to speak his language,
I thought the best way to stop it would be to shoot him. Now I know I could just mute the guy but I get a communication ban coz he told me he **** my mom...? Of course I'm going to say something back being the complete **** I am but why did I get banned? I
haven't had many offences unless people have been spamming the report button. Does offences from the 360 carry over?

You can view your ban at enforcement.xbox.com and file a case review from there if eligible. The enforcement team does not use the forums.

I was playing rainbow six and I got team killed for no reason so I said to the person who done it why did you do it. Then he said that he would smash me up so I said to defend my self that he will get f*cked and now I get banned for defending myself. This
is ridiculous !

generally if you say something in a message and they report it as offensive it's almost an instant communication ban. I do not know the steps when things are said over the mic.
