    Why did GTA Online (X/S) stop working today?


    After having to downgrade back to the original Xbox one, I was still able to play the X/S version of GTA Online through Cloud Gaming. I woke up today and got a message upon launching the game saying "Failed to launch cloud gaming session - Not owned. Please purchase the game or a subscription that includes the game." Then I get kicked back to the dashboard. This is strange because I already own the game. It's in my library and I played it yesterday. On the Microsoft store page it says "Manage, you own this." I still have an active Xbox gamepass ultimate subscription. Anyone know how to fix this?

    typically games that are leaving game pass are listed on the dashboard and on Xbox social media two weeks before it happens

    Grand theft auto has been in and out of Game Pass many times, and will likely continue to be so. It tends to show up during school vacations, and trade places with Red dead, and I'm sure that's not a coincidence

    Hey Kyle thanks for the details, so my question is all the money I just put into this game this week won’t be refunded? If so are they able to just rip us off like that I can imagine how many other ppl just went through what I went through today I’m ready to delete the whole game I put to much into it smh

    Hi Terri *. My name is Kyle and I’m an independent advisor.

    As of January 5th, GTA Online is no longer available on Game Pass. To continue playing this game on an Xbox One console, you may purchase the Xbox One version separately, however note that it will not longer be possible to play the X/S version via Cloud Gaming.

    Currently in the EXACT same boat. Bought my boyfriend an X for his birthday not knowing the GTAs(one of the only games we played together) had separated. The only way we could play without dropping $600 on another new console was through cloud gaming. I’m beyond upset.
