Why can't you recover stolen GT's!!

I recently had my GT stolen!! I immediately went to XBOX support and requested a call back 3 times and never received a callback! After being on support chat for hours(after I was finally able to chat with a human), and was told that there is nothing they can do to recover my gamertag and that I will have to choose another. I am very disappointed and let down, I had my GT for a long time and it's ridiculous that MS cannot secure they're system to keep hacks out. At the very least MS should have the ability to recover and penalize the offenders to make it right. My Gold subscription of 59.99 had just renewed in August when this hack happened. I want my GT recovered and a full credit, this is MS's fault for lack of security. Also, get your support service better XBOX! Just Horrible.

Microsoft offers several ways to keep your account secured including two step verification. You have to use them though. Did you use any of those?

If you had then when they tried to take your account you wouldve been texted a code that the hacker would need and it would have stopped then right in their tracks.

Should a gamertag added to an account becomes a gamertag of a different person, then there is a possibility that the gamertag has been changed by the account owner. In that case, may we confirm if you have updated your account's gamertag? If the answer is no, did you notice any other changes into your account lately? Like your purchases are not reflecting, game license will not show in Xbox category or successful subscription on Microsoft account | Order history. We would agree with the live support. only account owner has the way and option to change or update a gamertag as there is no tool for us to set one for you. However, gamertag could be system generated or you, as the account owner will be the one that update it.

Unfortunately Microsoft can't do anything about physical hardware being stolen. You'll have to wait to see if the police can recover yours or get a new one. Microsoft won't send you a free console because it was stolen.

also how do you know if it was the seller that recovered the account

Maybe it was the real owner

Just saying when you deal with shaddy things you can't rely on the source

It could be been a stolen account and they were reselling it
