Why can’t you Microsoft people make the Xbox series s play discs

You do.know that ps5 digital can't play disk games right also?

Unless you are talking about.the rumored modular ps5 which would be more .expensive.then one with a disk and ita only a rumor only because you are talking about more components

A regular.bluray drive is like 100 bucks not including the needed security chip plus sony tax (yes sony charges for every drive sold that plays bluray since they and apple owns the rights

Digital consoles are sold.diskless at a discount because you lack the hardware for disk swap

Most people.buy digital because its cheap not because it can play disks

And there is a reason why

Since you can't swap memory with the disks

Or load more off of a disk you save space for things like hd textures you don't need

And publishers would revolt because it would invite piracy since you can lend your disks out since they aren't locked to a cdkey and having millions of people having free copies of a single game invited bankruptcy

Disks DRM is the disk itself and all the security layers within the disk

You can't.skip.that without owning a digital.license

Since.only dual.entitlement on new.games are the only ones that have.that by registering the serial.number but can only be done on current EA sports games but will.be forever locked to your account

Players would.revolt.again if ms ever tried that again

And yes they did try once but 300k "xbox " fans signed a petition and got don matrick fired and xbox being second place last generation

Don matrrick said they may try it again in the future but no dice so far

It would've required an always on connection and people didn't like the extra security layer that would've let them lend out games without even leaving their couch freely

Apparently they like driving over to their buddies and lending their disks out over doing it from your couch

There is no optional disk drive for PlayStation. The Xbox series S does not have the necessary onboard hardware to support Xbox game discs

You cannot transfer purchased game discs to the Xbox Series S. If you own an Xbox Series S and want to play games that you own on disc, you'll need to purchase them again from the Microsoft Store. If you plan on playing disc games, you may want to get the Xbox Series X instead of the Xbox Series S, as it has a drive.
