Why can't we have a free gamertag change like we did with the 360

[/quote]I've had people ask me to report them for the same reason... So I did, just not for the reason they asked for.

 

I wanted the gamertag SCOTT but that was taken so as you can see I had to swap the O for a zero and the T for a 7, now people call me Scott Seven?

FYI: This no longer works. Now when given a Forced Name Change, the XBLPET changes the gamers name and the gamer must then pay $9.99 to change it to something they want. So tell your friends, that scam no longer works

 

I wish everything was free.....

 

I'd like to change my tag but I'm too tight to pay, the only upside is that it seems to be one of the shortest gamer tag on live

Way off, not even close to all tags could be taken. The number of combinations of numbers and letters, and putting spaces in different places. The number of possibilities is such a giant number, it's ridiculous.

Now, many of these tags would be silly, and have no meaning. But to say that almost all tags are taken is just as silly.

 

Some of you guys need to be creative with your gamer tags. I got mine off of a oven vent lol. I looked at it, it sounded cool so I took it. I'm surprised it wasn't taken. But I suggest looking at random things like appliances and etc. I saw one the other
day, "enMotion", off of a automatic paper towel dispenser, but it was taken. I guess someone has the same idea as me lol. But on topic, I'm actually glad it costs $10 to change your gamer tag. It makes you think about it.

 

That was my point, sure there are plenty of tags still available but not many without using numbers, ll gamertag ll, xXgamertagXx, etc. Your second to last sentence is what I mean!

 

I changed my tag once. I got a bunch of angry messages and I was forced to change it back.

 

I thought with the XO you could change it once for free?

You are given a random gamertag to start with and one free change that must be used with 90 days of the account creation.

But that isn't how it always was. That only started about a year or two ago, before you chose your gamertag right from account creation and never got a free one. I do prefer the new method a lot better though

 

You always got a free name change. At least you have within the last 4 or 5 years you did. The time limit was only 30 days though

 

24hrs, I definitely hasn't been this way for 4 years..
