  3. WHY CANT WE HAVE XBOX WEB BROWSER

I don't understand the fascination with getting a web browser for the console, there has not been one yet that does not suck.

Personally I hope MS never introduce one, it opens up too many possibilities for bad things to happen.

The Steam client isn't available on the Xbox. You need a regular computer to use that.

Steam is a competitor to Xbox. They have been trying to move away from PC's and create their own hardware platform for quite some time.

Also in order for something like that to work on Xbox it would mean the developers having to recode every single game for the Xbox, so it would just become another marketplace to buy the same titles from.

Little redundant, wouldn't you say? why cant we have a computar on xbox :)

Nope, he needs a "computar" XD.

Xbox Live is the sole official online service for Xbox consoles. Steam isn't going to have much luck moving away from PC, since PC makes up the majority of the market. Not many people, are going to want to buy an expensive proprietary system just for Steam.
It would be to Steam's own detriment if they moved away from PC which the majority of consumers use. Why do you think game developers release games for PC before they release a MAC version? Because there are more PC's out there with a Microsoft Windows OS.
One thing I like about Steam is you can ask a refund for a game if it's less than what 14 days from purchase price or if you've played less than 2 hours of it. Wish Microsoft did that for Xbox. I've asked for some refunds from Steam and they've refunded me.
This is good customer service. And I only refunded because I wasn't really happy with the game and needed the money for something better.

And yes, Steam charges fair prices compared to other sources. Microsoft being the only operator of XBL has no competition with Xbox Store, so they usually charge as much as they want. As evidence when you compare game prices of digital
    versions to disc versions.

Your close with the reason why digital/disc prices, but your not quite there.

The real reason why digital games on Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo are usually higher than "brick & mortar" stores is because Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo actually agrees not too undercut them.

Think about it, where do people go to buy a console? GAME/Gamestop/Wal Mart/Amazon etc. what do you think these companies would do if Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo undercut all of them for the price of games, do you think Amazon would be happy about it?

I know its a little bit shady, but until Microsoft handles all of there hardware sales, nothing will change. prices for digital games will always be more expensive than disc based.

Valve have been trying to move away from Windows and get people onto Linux, a Steambox is still just a PC like any other. They seem to be doing fairly well with it too, with more and more games being released for that OS, including triple A releases.

I could see it being easier than you imagine. The Xbox One does after all run on what is essentially a cutdown version of Windows 10 on AMD based PC hardware.

No doubt it would be hard work to allow a 'PC mode' on the One but I suspect it would be possible for Microsoft to do. After all who would have imagined they would be able to emulate the Xbox 360.

I think what is like to make it something that will never happen is that it would kill their profits. Why would people buy the One version of a game for $60 when they could purchase the same game on Steam for $40 to $50, and still have it playable on the same
    hardware.

There's a little side to this in the below comment.

Not at all and would allow people to not only use the One for gaming but for productivity related tasks as well.

When the PS3 launched it had an option called 'Other OS' which allowed people to boot into a version of Linux, they were able to use this to use their console as a PC. This is where that little side mentioned above comes in. Sony removed that functionality
with a patch and part of the reason was that it was allowing people easier access to the files of the console side, which of course would allow modders and pirates an easier time to do what they do.

As far as I am aware there are no mods or piracy on the Xbox One and while I would like to see a 'PC mode' and believe it would be possible for Microsoft to pull off, I think I would rather have the system remain as secure as it has been.

Having worked on this stuff, it's not as easy as you'd think. These are still consoles, not general purpose PC's. That's a misconception due to the x86-64 chips inside.

I think you might have also missed what I was saying in an attempt to try to tell me I'm wrong, for some reason I can't figure out.

For instance, the 'littler redundant' part was referring to the concept of having a secondary game marketplace on the console. The extra work to make things like the marketplace and games compatible with the custom hardware inside the Xbox One? That wouldn't
be free, nor cheap. The costs of that would be on Valve and those costs would have to be passed along to consumers. Games would have to see a price raise to compensate for those costs.

Trust me it's just not viable, which is why Valve has been looking into the Steambox concept for years. It's just not really easily doable given too many possible hardware configurations...not until we reach a point where computer power is essentially limitless...which
    isn't coming in our lifetimes.
