Why can't the ONE play the same media files as 360 ???

Why can't the ONE play the same media files as 360 ???

I can say take a .avi file, burn a data DVD, put it in my 360 and I can see the disc, and play the file.

My ONE won't even read the disc, let along play the file. same with MPG wmv yadda yadda yadda, the 360 is far better more media friendly???? [ in file type, and or storage type ]

Media Files Not Found

I'm having the same problem. I was working up until a few weeks ago and now nothing. Media Player sees my Windows 7 machine, but when you open it you get files not found. I've tried rebuilding the libraries and even reinstalling Media Player 12 but still
nothing. I'm currently using Plex media server on the PC but that seems to be 50/50 as to whether is shows up at all in the Media player app.

This is further complicated as my 360 also shows the PC but also can't find any files. I'm 99% certain the issue is Windows media sharing related but can't nail down what or why. I've been through the usual disabling firewalls, checking allowing media streaming
is enabled in MP12.

 

Xbox One Media Player questions

Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the Media Player on the Xbox One.

I use my Xbox One to stream a lot of stuff from a DLNA source, and it works great - as did my Xbox 360 before it, but the Xbox Ones media player has a few ... oddities which I need clarifying.

Firstly, the 360 used to have a "resume" function when a video played via DLNA (same source as I'm using now) was stopped midway through (not paused, actually stopped and exited out of). The Ones media player seems to only play from the start, not to continue
from the stopped point - am I missing something? Does it have this option?

Secondly, I can't seem to get the Ones media player to only play a single file - once the current file finishes, it immediately and seamlessly plays the next file in the folder. Can you get it to only play one file at a time?

You're right with the Xbox not being able to play them from DVD. That said it should have no issues playing via USB. Please see the this link on the

doesn't seem smart to go backward on features, buy FYI my ONE will see my external HD but my USB stick won't show...

 

Open the media player app. When you run the Media Player app, select your external USB drive, and then select the media that you want to play.

 

like I said, it don't show up, says it found it, says its ready for use, but can only select my external HD, the USB stick doesn't show up as a option to select...

 

dug out 2 old SD cruzer micro's 1-8GB got them both to appear, but my newer SD cruzer glide 16GB will not display...

 

If I had a DVD player in an external USB case, would the ONE be able to read the media then? would it not just see it as another external drive???
