    Why can't my son use his free name change on Xbox one?


    My son has been using Xbox since he was small first on 360 and now Xbox one and has never changed his username, and now he wants to use his one free name change and we are being told he has to pay £7.99! Can you explain this please and help me to sort
    it?

    Your son should still have a free gamer tag change. I would check. You should have got a gamer tag when you started xbox live. I would check and see if the free 1 was used

    You can change the first one free if was a auto created tag. Try to reach xbox support to verify.

    Basically if it is telling you that there is a cost to change, means you have used the free gamertag change. Daft Badger has pointed out that they changed the option from 30 days to change for free. I pointed out that if the automatically generated one
    was changed at account creation, then that is your free gamertag change.
