    Why can't I use my MS account balance?!?


    I am in Canada and I redeemed a $25 prepaid card code today.

    It shows up as $25 on my MS balance.

    I purchased FIFA 14 for $35. I have a credit card attached to my account profile.

    It took the entire $35 from my credit card!

    So I took the cc off my profile and tried to purchase a $19.99 game. It says I have no valid payment options on file.

    HUH? What about my $25 MS account balance?

    Why can't I use my MS Account Balance on xbox.com? I travel a lot and want to buy something but it seems MS doesn't want me to. Should I just stop buying if I can't use my account anymore?

    Using money in microsoft account

    I would like to know why I can't use money in my account to, theres no reason for it really is there beyond MS getting more money out of customers. Dispicable practice.

    Are you trying to make the purchase via the website? Currently, you can only use your MS account money from your console.

    Yes, I was trying to make the purchase on the website. How am I supposed to know that I can't use my MS account balance on the website? Not everyone stalks the forums before making a purchase!

    The website was more than happy to accept the prepaid code!

    If I can't make purchases on the website with my MS account balance, it should

    #1 - clearly state that I can't use MS account balance to pay for purchases via website

    AND

    #2 - it shouldn't accept the prepaid card code on the website!

    Now how do I use the MS account balance?

    When you make a purchase, on the console or the website, it clearly shows you which payment method you're using before you confirm the payment. You would need to make sure it shows your Microsoft account balance as your payment method before you confirm
    the payment. You would need to make a purchase on the console in order to use your account balance.
