    Using Kinect to do everything would not be feasible in a game like Battlefield. You do have to move around the map and that just isn't something you can do with Kinect BUT alot of the other things can be done. Aiming and shooting for one, would be way more
    natural and faster with Kinect. If Microsoft came out with a Kinect gun with thumb controls for movement that would be a win.

    its only been out for 2 months, so I doubt devs have had time to really learn how to program it, and games designers haven't had time to work out what they can do to implement new styles of play that work, I recon 12 months to see some cool stuff (fable
    maybe), but 24 months before it really becomes of age on the XO.

    I think though it really all depends on how accurate the Kinect truly is. From what I've seen it's pretty accurate though. HOWEVER I still think it needs a little "help". But "help" would be a very tricky thing. For instance there is no doubt that the Kinect
    would increase greatly in accuracy with a "special" glove or whatever that the user could wear but I don't think anyone but hardcore , HARDCORE gamers want. But Microsoft doesn't want that. The gun thing though is EASILY something they could implement and
    if done right gamers would flock to.

    The things that a adult would want in the Kinect will never happen it's for kids and the family of course people would love grenades and a replica gun for a fps and all kind of other things but Microsoft will never allow it. Just dance with it and talk to
    it.

  6. I don't know, if they came out with a choice of a replica GEARS/HALO and a standard gun I think it would sell like hotcakes. And we know Microsoft LOVES money.

    I think the "nade throw depending on movement in real life" is a bit too much for a game like BF4. I would go for an "on/off" type animation if anything, much like the nade buttons typically are. There are however plenty of things that could be done so that
    it uses Kinect and not just a mic, but I still don't think grenade throwing would be even close to the most practical one. It would have to be things that 1) don't "require" both hands on controller (I consider nade throwing to require that) 2) can be done
    with both hands on controller (fe. thrusting controller forward to melee? Countering a frontal knifing attempt by lifting controller to the height of your face (or something like this)? Etc, just need a little imagination but I would forget some precision
    control-attempts if we arn't talking about a game that is primarly about these (as in, a pure Kinect game).

    But why? If the Kinect is capable of precision control maneuvers then why not make use of them? I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use something the Kinect could be capable of doing. Now that said I have the hardest time in the world getting this
    thing to do hand gestures. LOL. Seems like the only time it sees my hand is when I pick up a smoke. Is there something you're supposed to do first to get it to recognize your hand gestures? I don't try or use it often at all but the rare times I'm like "Hey
    let me try out the hand stuff" it doesn't work for me.

  10. One of the best uses for grenades I've ever seen in a game is from the Half-Life series - there you had the ability to not only throw them, but you could roll them across the ground. Being able to do that in more games (with Kinect or otherwise) would be
    pretty cool, IMO.

  11. Ok, before we get really derailed, this isn't a real "I want to throw a grenade with Kinect" thread. This is a "We need more implementation of Kinect in games" thread. We need it to be meaningful, take advantage of the hardware for which another console
    couldn't do, and ENHANCE our gameplay.

  12. I'm happy just using the Kinect to navigate the UI and play BF4 with, but hopefully with every Kinect being bundled with the Xbox One developers will create a game you want.

    It's not so much creating a game I want as fully fleshing out the games to come with Kinect features that make sense and work for the game.

    What a waste. It is much quicker to press a button to throw a grenade or to reload than it is to say the command, hope it recognizes the command and then have you throw the grenade or reload.

    Problem is all that can be done with a mike. The grenade thing can work , I was just being facetious though, but like you said you wouldn't be able to move from your sitting position. All Kinect would have to do is have you point to what you consider the
    corners of your screen for a calibration and probably raise your hand as high as possible so it can calculate a range and from there it should be able to calculate where you want to throw the grenade.

    Although the idea sounds great in theory and would be a cool way of demonstrating technology, it takes much less time and is much easier to aim and hit a button than to correctly align and throw your arm in the real world. Especially if you are sitting in
    a chair with armrests or a backrest where it is very difficult to move your arm around freely without breaking your comfortable seating position.
