Why can't I throw a grenade with Kinect?

    LOL, more importantly why isn't more Kinect stuff in effect? Microsoft really needs to get this thing implemented more meaningful in games. It's nice to call audibles in Madden with it and with the sports games and call for medic and such in BF4 but from
    what I understand you can do the exact same things on the other console with a mike. What's the deal here? Microsoft needs to be helping devs implement this in their games to make it worth it's extra cost when it comes to games.

    Happens all the time when I throw a grenade at someone or they throw a grenade in my vicinity. My character either screams 'Grenade out!' or 'GRENADE'

    It's not irresponsible to throw grenades up near the truck on Mission in MW3 when I know that place is always swarming with enemies (or any other high traffic area). Besides, the minimap is exactly that - a minimap; if my allies don't stay close, I can't
    see exactly where they are (& where not to throw grenades).

    Tomb Raider has Kinect implementation for inventory. I think CoD has Kinect implementation for leaning. Pretty sure Forza 5 has head tracking as well. FIFA has the funniest Kinect implementation ever (go look it up, I won't even spoil the laugh for that
    one).

  5. It's primarily up to the debs to implement it as I'm sure Kinect is included in the dev kit and is encouraged. The thing is though, not everyone will see that as a benefit, many won't use it and some may even call it unfair. Personally I have no use for
    Kinect as I sit too close.

    Personal opinion; Kinect is great for certain games. Games like Battlefield need not apply. I'm sure you can count on seeing it implemented more in the future though as the debs get to grips with it and it's technology. Watch this space for Battlefield 5.

  6. LOL Yeah, I know about that feature. NBA 2K14 has that same feature. I think it's great and I'll even give it a plus for really putting you in the game. You can't do that stuff if you were out there for real. But even that can be done with a mike with the
    other console. Why NBA Live doesn't have that feature I don't know.

    I can't wait until they use it to scare the crap out of me via the heart beat sensor and send me to the hospital. Why can't I throw a grenade with Kinect? ;)

  9. The Kinect's pretty good, but it can't do everything. Besides, as others have already said, it's largely up to the developers. If you have a good idea on how to implement the Kinect, maybe you could contact the developers so they can add it into their next
    game or update...

    I don't think grenade throwing would be the best example. When I think about me throwing nades in BF4, it typically involes both moving and aiming at the same time. I suppose you would want Kinect to react to "pitching" with your arm in real life, but this
    would either mean you won't be moving or you won't be aiming. Thus personally I wouldn't use it over pressing a button.

    But yes, want more good/cool implementations for Kinect in "normal games", but I think fe. BF already does cool stuff with the leaning and commo-rose commands etc.

    Problem is all that can be done with a mike. The grenade thing can work , I was just being facetious though, but like you said you wouldn't be able to move from your sitting position. All Kinect would have to do is have you point to what you consider the
    corners of your screen for a calibration and probably raise your hand as high as possible so it can calculate a range and from there it should be able to calculate where you want to throw the grenade.

    Although the idea sounds great in theory and would be a cool way of demonstrating technology, it takes much less time and is much easier to aim and hit a button than to correctly align and throw your arm in the real world. Especially if you are sitting in
    a chair with armrests or a backrest where it is very difficult to move your arm around freely without breaking your comfortable seating position.

  14. It depends actually, sometimes throwing a grenade where you want can be a pain with a controller , if the Kinect is accurate enough you should be able to get it off faster and Kinect may allow better placement with the grenade than with a controller. With
    a controller to drop a grenade in a hole you have to look down with Kinect you can do a soft underhand toss all the while not having to turn the camera away from the action that's happening in front of you. There are instances where you may want to look one
    way but toss the grenade another way without having to move your camera.

    There has been a lot of times I'd like to throw a grenade behind me while I'm running.

  15. That is actually a cool idea. I don't think the straight forward using Kinect for everything would be very useful at all but if somebody could implement a clever and slightly complex mixture of head direction, arm movements and controller actions all at
    once, we would definitely be on to the next big thing of competitive FPS techniques and tactics.
