Why can't I start The Escapists on series s

I purchased the Supermax edition of "The Escapists" downloaded all of the game and dlcs then tried to start it and it immediately kicks me back out. I have powered my Xbox all the way down and have done hard resets, I have also reinstalled all of just the game then also with the dlcs and it still just crashes without even loading the game.

Please check for system updates to make sue that your Xbox console is fully updated. Go to Settings > System > Updates & Downloads. Check for any pending updates and install them.

Restart your console and try launching the game again.

And then clear persistent storage. To do this, go to Settings > Devices & Connections > Blu-ray > Persistent Storage. Select Clear Persistent Storage.

Restart your console and attempt to launch the game.

Next is to reset game license by going to Settings > Account > Remove Accounts.

Remove your account, then restart the Xbox. Re-add your account and open the game again. Ensure that you know your account details so that you can sign in back to your account without any issues.

Then test your network connection because a poor connection can affect license verification or cloud sync. Kindly go to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Test Network Connection. Ensure your connection is stable and retry the game.

If you’re using external storage, it can be cause of the issue. Please disconnect any external drives. Reinstall the game directly onto the console’s internal storage. Then launch the game after installation.

Instant On builds up a cache of information that requires the console to be power cycled every once in a while. Switching to Energy Saver is a good option.

So the xbox series s cant run the call of duty series X/S version properly?

Why is it called series s version if it can't run it properly?

Running on a new(ish) samsung TV so that shouldn't be the issue

So you think removing the textures pack should fix? The textures pack was 61 gig so wasn't a small download.

While the speed of the series s is great the other thing I was looking forward to was the graphics so it's disappointing can't play the game to its potential with texture pack etc

I'm afraid it won't ever be 'configurable'. The real reason why your games can't be downloaded to the external drive is because you can't actually run Series X|S games from an external drive.

External hard drives are far too slow to run Series X|S games. They need to be run either from the internal drive - which is a fast NVME SSD - or the optional memory expansion cards for the Series X|S consoles. Not even SATA based external SSD's are considered fast enough for X|S games.

You can move Series X|S games for archive purposes to copy back to these faster storage locations to play, but you can't run Series X|S games from external storage.

Games that have not been optimised for Series X|S have no such limitations.

Not sure why the 'Independent Advisor' doesn't know this well known fact.
