    Hello all! I am coming to you because I am at my wits end with an issue. For months now, I have not been able to send or receive any messages through my Xbox live account. Now this issue is not my console. I've tested through the Xbox one itself, the Xbox
    mobile app and Xbox.com. I've gone through reputation check several times, removed the account on the console, did a hard reset on the console, and re applied it. I also have a second account on the console and that works fine. After speaking to Xbox support
    over the phone the first time I looked into the issue on my own and saw a long time ago, my profile name was flagged as inappropriate. I changed my gamer tag out of desperation (paying $10) but to no avail. Called back to support, after a lengthy call and
    confirming my account IS NOT suspended, they refunded my game tag name change and sent me here. I really hope someone knows how to fix this or what it could be. Also, I get different errors depending on the format I use for the message. On the console, I get
    the reputation check error, on the app it says the person I'm messaging doesn't exist, and on the site, it simply says to try again later. Thanks I'm advanced for your help.

    I can't send or receive messages on xb1 or smartglass but can on my 360 tried everything from hard resetting to resetting whole console but still nothing find it very frustrating as I use messages a lot for Fifa pro clubs etc

    Why can't I send or receive messages from my account???

    Go to
    Sign in to your Microsoft account
    look under "Security info helps keep your account secure" and make sure they have a phone and email listed.

    If any are missing please add them. If Any ARE listed delete and re-add them. And Save Changes.

    Then Restart Console Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide. Select Settings. > Select Restart console. > Select
    Yes to confirm.

    Once the Console Has restarted you should be able to send messages.

  6. No I'm sorry that didn't work. I did exactly what you said. I was missing a phone number. I added it and restarted. When that didn't work, I did rep check again to no avail. Does anyone else know what gives???

    Hey there, Kat!

    Sorry to see any messaging issues. Normally this sounds like an Enforcement issue, but since support already confirmed that there are no actions taken against your account, then it might be on the Skype side of things.

    Try out the
    Skype reputation link
    for me. This will ask for a phone number, send a code to your phone, and then ask you to place it in. Once you do that, power cycle your console if you have it on by holding the power button for 8-10 seconds, then let me know how it's
    going.

  11. I tried your suggestion and also tried adding two step verification and removing and adding my payment info. This is getting egregious at this point. I didn't do anything for this to happen. I just want my account to work as intended. Shocking that I've
    seeked support on three different levels and no one knows what to do...

  12. That is odd. Someone should have at least sent you up to our Global Escalation Support if you've already done everything with them to dig into your account further.

    I'd like to do this for you. What I will need is images and screenshots of all the errors you get across all platforms. While this will not help me out, per se, it will let me give every bit of information I can to the proper people so they know what to
    look into when reaching out to you. Once I have that, I can get the ball rolling. Why can't I send or receive messages from my account??? :)

    Apologies for any frustrations that came with this. I frequently use messaging on the Xbox Live service personally, and couldn't remotely imagine what it's like not having access to it. I'm hoping we'll get you sorted out, though. :3

  14. Hey, kat! I'm not seeing any messages from you, but you can post the images in a response here by using the image icon in the text editor (looks like a couple mountains in a box) or by linking them to an online file sharing service such as
    OneDrive. Let me know if you're still having issues. Why can't I send or receive messages from my account??? :)
