Why can't I see chats on Xbox?

To fix this, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

If that didn't work, please try checking on your Xbox App if it will be visible from there, this is to check if the issue is your account or the console itself.

Before chat Check that your privacy settings allow communication with everyone. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy. Select View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer, and then make your changes.

Your receiver should work. meaning you can still hear through your headsets. but with no bluetooth support on Xbox One and incompatible chat connector you will not be able to chat or hear chat through your current headsets.

Make sure you haven't accidentally muted chat. You can check or change this by opening the chat screen and checking the toggle in the upper right. Oh and if it is sending you to privacy settings then he has settings that won't let you talk to him or its your settings doing the same thing go to your privacy settings and make sure both of your settings are the same.

You will rarely see Microsoft/Xbox employees or moderators on these types of threads. That's why they have community posters, that help the community. In this case, it would be great for you to report that to Microsoft, either by calling them, or Chat with them. For chat, you need to select the option: "Chat with an Xbox Gamer", and if they can't help you, they can direct you to Xbox Customer support chat.
