Why can't I renew my gold?

Just logged in for the first time in 2 months and noticed my gold had expired (previous gold was bought with a prepaid card)

Tried adding my credit card and purchasing a whole year and it told me that the payment method can not be accepted or something along those lines.

It never gave me my gold but I have a $2 transaction fee showing on my credit card from Microsoft.

Any ideas?

My details were correct and my visa hasn't expired, so not sure what a) the $2 fee is for, and b) how else can I renew my gold?

Renewing XBL Gold

Please explain why I can't renew my Gold with my Microsoft account balance. I just put $80 on my account so I could renew my gold and buy some extra dlc. Why is my Microsoft account balance not an option of payment? Please explain as this would be the
last straw and I would switch to PS4.

Sorry for the frustration this may have caused. Since you have multiple times in various ways to redeem your code, lets try some troubleshooting steps. First, lets ensure that all your billing information on your account is current/correct. You may do that
on Microsoft's Billing site here: Billing-Payments Afterwards, please ensure that you have no outstanding balances due on your account: Services

After you've done that, please make sure that your account security proofs (Phone number, Address, and recovery email) are current here: Privacy

If you continue to get an error in attempt to redeem your code, please contact Xbox Support so they can take a look into your account and redeem to code. You may do that anytime here: Contact

http://account.microsoft.com to see if that will work or perhaps gives more information why it can't be done.

Also be sure to check the status at
http://account.microsoft.com/services if any issues are showing.

If that doesn't work either, then it's best to contact Xbox Support via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat at:
Contact Us | Xbox Support

They should be able to check what may be causing this issue.

Regarding the $2 transaction, that could be a test transaction, which usually get's returned, but that is my assumption. Xbox Support or even the website mentioned earlier could give more information on that too.

Hello, ronsprogis, my best recommendation would be to go to your profile, click on “services and subscriptions,” and double check that the payment option that it would be charging is correct. You can also determine if it is an issue with a suspended subscription.
This is located at https://account.microsoft.com/services/

If you find that the payment option chosen is not suitable, you can change it out by visiting https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments?refd=account.microsoft.com

If your current sub was from a code then you'll have to wait for it to be over until you can renew it with money/CC or you can use another code at any time to add to your sub (you can stack up to 3 years of a sub with codes).
