Why can’t I play single player on games that offer both- single and multiplayer options?

I have Minecraft and other games that allow you to play solo, no multiplayer. When I click the game it says “ looks like you need to renew Xbox game pass. If your subscriptions current try quitting and relaunching the game…”

On my second attempt of opening the game, it something alone the lines of “ try opening the game with the account you bought and download the game from” which I was already logged into.

Did you buy the game or just download it off of gamepass .

If you downloaded it and recently let gamepass expire you must buy the game.

Downloaded gamepass games arent yours to keep only if you buy them

You can play the single player portion of the game offline. You just need Gold if you want to play the multiplayer modes online. There are a lot of games that offer both.

COD - Single player

Battlefeild - Single player + Multiplayer

I like them both , and I don't play multiplayer on cod because of the campers and hackers

COD4 for both, at the time the single player was top notch and multiplayer was THE game to play for a long time.

I'm under 30 and I enjoy single player. I have to agree with others that multplayer does offer you extended time with your game that single player can't necessarily offer. In single player almost always know what's going to happen next, even if you up the
difficulty. But with multiplayer you always have a different experience.
