    Why can't I play Dead by Daylight?


    I have both the digital and physical copies of this game. I played it absolutely fine for months, probably close to a year with no issues until all of a sudden I kept getting the same error code whenever I tried to launch the game. The error code is 0x8027025a. This error code has been showing up with this game for about 5 months. I have done every troubleshoot under the sun to try to fix the issue, but no matter what I do I am unable to play the game. I have an Xbox One and I am able to play any other game I try to play just fine, they launch with no problem at all, besides Dead by Daylight. I've even tried factory resetting my whole Xbox twice to see if it would fix it and it didn't help at all. I really love this game and I want to play it so bad, but I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

    Hello Mckenzie, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your game.

    Do you currently have a Gold or Ultimate membership? If not you would need to have one to play the game online. You can check your membership status at https://account.microsoft.com/services.

    If you do not have an active membership you would need to purchase one as it is required for online play with most games.

    Seems like you have performed all the necessary steps, I would like yo clarify, is the game store on your External hard drive? If yes, kindly move the game to your Internal Storage and then unplug your hard drive before launching the game. This will determine if the game file is corrupted on your hard drive.

    did you install dead by daylight or the special edition?

    You can play Dead by Daylight: Special Edition with Xbox Game Pass for Console, or buy it to own.

    dead by daylight is purchasable may have been on gamepass and rolled off.
