Why cant i just purchase a game as a gift even if i dont own a current gen console

I have a PC and an old Xbox one. my brother has a newer xbox and i want to buy him a copy of killing floor 3 as a surprise but since im logged in on my pc, im not allowed to purchase any copies of the game since it isnt compatable with my device. same with my old xbox since its optimized for next gen consoles only. i bought the game for myself on steam but theres no way for me to even try to gift him a copy since i dont have a next gen console to log in to. How can i gift him a copy?

The game hasn't been released yet. You won't be able to purchase as a gift until it's released.

I'm not a PC expert but you can't gift from steam to Xbox.

You should try to gift him the game via the Xbox app on your PC or from the MS store website.

Edit: I just checked the website and it seems that you can't gift from there.

The other problem is that none of the editions of the game are available atm. Not even in the Series store.

No one knows yet PilarBarrel0513.... WWE 2K15 was officially announced for Next Gen consoles, but they said nothing about current gen.. this could mean nothing though, just them wanting everyone to know the next game would be on the newer consoles. I
dont see why they wouldnt make a current gen version, but you just never know, they may not, but I wouldnt think they would stop doing that one year into the next gen consoles, just my opinion though.

I dont get it why do people buy a next gen console to play last gen games? Why not just play all your older games on the console you have now?
