Why can't i join or host a terraria server?

That's why I can't wait for dedicated servers so we can finally be rid of host advantage, not to mention the huge misconception that hosts have that just because a game is running smooth for the host that it's running smooth for everyone else and thus they
have no advantage. With dedicated servers...the only advantage will be who has the best ping to the server.

the platform I am hosting the server on is Windows 10. Initially people can join but after about 8 to 12 hours typically the "join game" option becomes grayed out and people can't join in anymore.
