Why can't I install disc games offline on my Xbox One S?

I have a xbox one s and halo 5 on disc . I would get the disc version of this game install it offline that way you can skip the update . I did this before on my xbox one s.

Are you using a disc to install? If so why not try installing the disc offline first then apply updates after.

Thank you for coming to the forums, I'd be happy to help.

Based on your description, it's possible the disc reader may not be working properly since downloading digital games online works fine and none of your discs are installing so I don't think it's a damaged disc.

Is there a specific reason you want to download disc games while offline and not connected to the network? I think discs download at 54mbps max when offline.

Either way try this out and see if that helps:

None of my discs play, or my disc isn’t recognized when I insert it

Try the following solutions if none of your discs will play, or if you insert a disc and your console doesn't recognize it. If your Xbox Home screen tells you to insert a disc when a disc is already inserted, that means it doesn't recognize your disc. In
these scenarios, there are two possible issues:

• The settings for instant-on power mode can render a small number of consoles unable to read discs.
  
• The console's disc drive needs servicing.

Solution 1: If you use instant-on power mode, change power modes and power cycle the console

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Power & startup >
   Power mode & startup.
3. Select Power mode, and then select Energy-saving.
   
4. Perform a "hard power cycle" by holding down the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds. Once the console has completely shut down, unplug the power cable for 2-3 mins. Then press the
   Xbox button on the console again to restart it.
5. Try your disc again. Wait a few seconds to see if the console recognizes it. If the console can now read the disc, you can revert to instant-on power mode.
   

Follow the above steps if the problem happens again.

If the previous solution didn't fix the issue, your console will need a repair. Go to

The thing with installing disc games offline is the content should download but it needs the internet connection to download any updates. If the issue persists then as suggested by fellow XBF Diego M the best bet would be that the console will need a repair.
