Why cant i hear my xbox? My HDMI is in the right place.

I bought an eARC HDMI, hopefully it’ll work and I’ll be able to hear the audio through my speakers. Right now I have the speakers plugged into my monitor with a audio jack and HDMI connecting my Xbox and monitor and no sound is playing.

im trying to set up my turtlbeach headset to hdmi but my friends can hear me but i cant hear them can you help me with my problem thank you

Let's try to isolate the issue a bit more, for this please tell me:

If you try to use the Xbox mobile app , are you able to hear your friend once you start a party chat there?

If yes, try testing the party chat in your PC with a different friend to see if the issue persist

In the meantime, please ask him (and you as well) what's saying next to / underneath NAT

PC: Download and open the Xbox console companion app > settings > network

Xbox: Open settings > general > network config

I tried plugging the original hdmi that came with the Xbox one x and it still beings me to the screen to reset or restart my Xbox. I haven't tried an offline factory reset but I doubt that will fix this issue. I do not have an external hard drive and I
don't know what the rest of that stuff means. I have my Xbox plugged into a direct outlet I have the original hdmi. Everything should be in the right place. This problem only started happening when my warranty expired. It's not right and its suspicious.

I know what you mean and I can hear it from my xbox but its very subtle only when on dashboard or on when its dead quiet, im right next to my xbox anyway but when im a few feet away from it I cant hear it.
