Why cant I get my old account back

I was making a change to my old profile one the Xbox One and I downloaded the xbox app on the phone and it gave me a new account. I didn't want it but when I got on the Xbox the account went over to the Xbox and my old account is gone. How can I get my old
account back?

Do you have a console that has ever had the Profile in question on it before?

If not you will have to try and remember some of the answers to those questions on the account recovery form.

If you do have a console that has had that profile on it previously AND have received the email from the account recovery team that you have not provided them with enough information you can contact xbox support by going to support.xbox.com/contact-us and
have them do a forgotten password escalation where they will ask for information about the account and the console that it was on previously and then the escalations team will look at those answers to see if there was enough of them correct and if so then
they would send you a link to reset your password.

i cant get back into my old xbox account

For a couple days now i have been trying to get back into my first xbox live account because i had a lot of games i would like play with my friend but i forgot the password and don't remember enough information to get back into the account, while i do not
remember enough information to access the account i do have a few pictures of me using the account around 5 - 6 years ago, i also remember the email but i cant sign in if thats any help

If it is an offline profile from an Xbox 360 console, you need to make it an online profile first: http://support.xbox.com/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/offline-profile-to-gamertag

If it already is, you might have used a wrong email address associated which is the reason why you were given a new profile.

If you still remember your old gamertag and it is an online profile, you try steps on this page: https://support.xbox.com/my-account/microsoft-account/forgot-microsoft-account-solution

Why cant i have my old gamertag back?

For some reason my new gamer tag linked itself to my old gamer tag email address. I don't know how to change that and to link my old gamer tag back to my Microsoft account. I believe that's why I cant play as my old game tag. Is there a way to fix that?
