Why can't I connect to Call of Duty Servers?

call of duty DOES use servers, just not dedicated servers. why do you think it says "the call of duty servers are unavailable at this time. please try later" error message. the gamer connects to xbox live, then to a secondary connection namely the call of
duty servers, then its peer 2 peer.

I don't believe the game being freshly launched to be the cause of this error, seeing as the vast majority of players aren't experiencing it.

Well unfortunately, that's not how it works.

If other players are not experiencing it, it's because the load balancing algorithm "let them in", or they are playing other game modes.

When a new Call of Duty is released, a lot more people try to connect to the servers at the same time than the servers could take, and Activision has to limit the amount of concurrent requests to the servers. So it's pretty random who can and can not get
on a server.

Activision Support site for server information on their end. You may also wish to try our Xbox One Multiplayer Connection Error
Solution in case there may be an issue with your multiplayer connection in general.

If you need to run the Multiplayer Connection Test on your console to verify the specific error message you’re getting, follow these steps:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select Network.
5. Select Network settings. Any known outages will appear in the middle of the screen.
6. On the right side of the Network settings screen, select
   Test multiplayer connection.

If the multiplayer connection test is not successful, the Multiplayer Connection Troubleshooter will try to identify the problem.

The new call of duty released today so there will be a lot of people trying to access the servers all at once resulting in high ping games atm. I know black ops 3 is one of the titles most affected by this.
