Why can’t I add a payment option to my xbox 360 original?

Hi, things work very strangely when it comes to backwards compatible titles and payment options added on an Xbox One, for whatever reason you can't use a payment option to purchase these games if you added it on an Xbox One, you have to add the payment option
on an Xbox 360..........funky huh

I want to buy it for the XBOX One and was already using xbox.com in order to do so.

According to "support.xbox.com/.../add-xbox-live-payment-option" there should be an option to add or use PayPal, but when I'm trying
to follow these steps, the option of PayPal doesn't even appear. Under "Manage payment options" none of my current payment options are listed and the only buttons that can be used are "Add credit card", "add billing info", the "More Info" (in the "Can’t see
this page? Your browser may need an update. More info") and the exit-cross.

And when I'm trying to purchase something it links me to that screen.

So the only way to get past your issue would be to add your payment option on an Xbox 360 console, not ideal but if you have a friend who has a 360 or know someone who has a 360 then you could download your
profile to that 360, add the payment option, remove your profile after adding the payment option and you should then be able to purchase backwards compatible titles on your Xbox One.

I worked with Microsoft Support online and my problem was confirmed. Trying to use a pre-existing card on file would not work, and adding the card through "Change Payment Options" did not work.
I was introduced to a work-around though which did resolve my problem.

I wanted to write down the steps to resolve this issue, because I know when I research online for answers that someone later on might find this thread.

The work around was to
add my payment option through an already owned
Xbox 360 game or original Xbox game's DLC page.

For example (what I did):

I purchased "Crysis 3" (For the
Xbox 360) a long time ago. This was under my purchases, and I downloaded the game to my
Xbox One. You could possibly also find an old Xbox 360 physical game. I then ran the game, and went to the "Downloadable Content" store in the game. I clicked a random item to purchase (with no intention
on buying the item), and was prompted to "Add Payment". I again tried to add my payment.. but this time it worked. And my payment information stuck around for
Xbox 360 and
original Xbox games. I can now download
Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, both in the
Microsoft Store on the Xbox One and in a web Browser.
