Why can you buy Fable 3 at a retail store if it doesn't work?

I just bought Fable 3 the other day from Walmart. I was so excited because I had wanted to play it since middle school but no one would buy it for me. I finally got it the other day only to find out that I can't play it because you need to verify the release
date with Games for Windows LIVE... which no longer exists. I am extremely upset that I could buy a game that doesn't work. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this game to work, I reinstalled the LIVE client three time, I disabled my firewall, I set back the
time on my computer, I UPDATED the time on my computer, I tried the "timeslip" file from some website that would download a xboxlive.dll fake file, but the file won't work, I can't contact LIONHEAD Studios because they no longer exist. Every time I contact
support the give me the runaround with the same websites that I have already tried several times or tell be I can't be on a public network. I have Windows 10, I've read threads that have been able to play Fable 3 on Windows ten, but I think that's only if
they were able to play it on windows 7. Can someone PLEASE help me figure out how to get this game to work. I am so frustrated that I bought a game from WALMART that doesn't freaking work.

One month old xbox freezes constantly

1-If it is 30 days old then why are you not taking it back to the retail shop where you purchased it for an exchange?

2-If you did buy it at a reputable retailer did you take advantage of their extended in store warranty for the console? If no, why not?

It's weird that PS4 has a code you can buy at a retail store for 1 month at a time but xbox does not. Microsoft please fix this so we can buy ESO plus on the Xbox store or even a retail store without using a credit card on the store page. Thank you.
