Why can not we have Live gold for free?

It is very unfair to have to pay to play in live gold because we are not paying the server or etc.We are paying for an online license to play this is absurd because you could take advantage of Live gold to bring gamers something else without being playing
online ex: Have more advantages in profile and other things to do with xbox, well you must have other ideas but you could not make playing online for free? it is much better many would buy more the console and would do very well for the console gamers .. Well
we would not have to worry over time and I have an idea, you could do another live as if it were the '' main '' the user could play online games without having to pay the live gold would have to give more advantages to him to pay that price the game pass maybe
would have to change. If you do not change that at least leave online games that are for free to play without live, thanks for the attention my comment may be very controversial in the matter of ideas but it is not very fair to pay to play online

Xbox live is $60 or less per year which includes the Xbox Live service, games with gold, etc. It's very inexpensive for what you what get out of it.

Hosting servers us not free. And servers that are hosted for free often host malicious software, or ads, or present a low quality. I have played on free services before like Warp Pipe, and the old PSN, and i guarantee you, Live is a premium gaming service.
If you want Live for free, use Bing search, earn Microsoft points, and buy Xbox Live memberships that way.

Thanks for bringing the question to the forums. Xbox Live is one of the most reliable gaming networks available and in order to achieve that you have to pay for servers and engineers who optimize them/keep them running.
With free games with gold you earn that money back and then some due to able to get up to 40 free games a year.

Microsoft Rewards are a great way to earn Xbox Live Gold and other things without having to spend money by using Bing and other little tasks:

For example when any game purchased you earn 4-6000 points, searching on Bing can earn 500 a day. A 25$ USD digital gift card is 25,000 points. Also, promotions are run frequently where they reduce the points needed for rewards. They also have
subscriptions you can get with the reward points.

You are paying for servers/maintenance/security.

When you pay for gold you are supporting all those above services.

I'll second that about Microsoft Rewards, I just put 3 months Live on my account by using some of my Microsoft rewards points.
