Why can I not purchase Minecraft: Xbox One Edition for $5?

I have owned the Xbox 360 version since it's launch and do not understand why it isn't giving me the option to purchase it for $5 on the Xbox One.

wanted to puchase Minecraft to play with other friends and such, typing in minecraft in the micorsft store on my Xbox One. the results was just Minecraft (not Xbox One edition), me not realising that their
was an Xbox One Edition, i purchased it. i did not realise that their was a Xbox One edition of Minecraft as it did not showed as a result of typing in "Minecraft". i could not play with friends as they had minecraft Xbox One Edition while i didn't, i
would do a thorough check of the Microsoft store, but still didn't pop us a result. i compared games with friends to find the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition that i could not find on the Xbox store on Xbox One. i clicked on the game hub and pressed "see in Microsoft
store". it brought me to the Minecraft that i wanted to purchase but could not purchase it as it said "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is not currently available". this frustrated me as i could purchase the product that i wanted and i could not the find the product
the i wanted in the Xbox store as it would not show as a result. On the other hand, why is their two Minecrafts? why cant it just be one minecraft that i can play with friends and not be two seperate minecrafts. but anyways i wanted to see if i can get help
with this problem that i am having

Minecraft Better together update

Minecraft updated a couple of days ago on my console. I have the Xbox one which included Minecraft with purchase. I can only assume it was the Minecraft better together update. However, my Minecraft: Xbox One Edition was deleted from the console. Can
someone please tell me why and how I can get it back?

 

they are working on the issue, honestly I do not know why this is happening, I think that thousands of people who owned the 360 version paid the 19.99$ and didn't know about the UPGRADE, this may not be the case but I see it as a possibility for sure, as
for me and some others the UPGRADE offer was seen on the website and it showed on the Xbox One but then went away, which is very strange.

Support also had issues finding out that I actually owned the game, which I do I own multiple copies DIGITAL that is, yet is was not showing. After a few minutes he told me that he found the file showing I owned it... yaaa

Also no GIVEN END DATE was shown for this deal so I can't see them saying o it ended, that's a load of BS.

I also read that it may take 24-48 hours for it to KICK in after activating Xbox One and the 360... Which sucks for me because I did not have XBL gold when I activated my Xbox One my Gamertag was then upgraded with a 2 day trial and I was going to use my
14 day trial, I then went out a day after and bought a 3 month XBL gold subscription which gave me all that I needed.

I can imagine many parents went and just bought it not even knowing about this upgrade... I would hope Microsoft pays these people back, but who knows how that works... who is at fault I would think Microsoft.

 

^^ I'm trying to find a link, but the expiration date of the upgrade deal is one year after release. So, September 5th, 2015.

Also, the 24-48 hours is for those people who are just playing Minecraft on the 360 for the first time, and immediately tried to get the $4.99 deal. There have been a few that have posted here about that, once they waited a day or two, the deal showed up.

Lastly, how do you own "multiple digital copies"??? You have one gamertag that purchased Minecraft, how hard could it have been to merely look through your billing history for Minecraft?!

I own three xbox consoles and have it downloaded on multiple consoles, not all with the same GT, what is your point? I know I purchased it, they knew AFTER 5 minutes of looking through my files, first they tried telling me that I didn't own it, Xbox Support...

I have the digital copy, I'm on the same account, I went into the 360 version 3 days ago and got some achievements, on day 3 still it's not working

 

ok i just ran into this issue, i just went to get the 5 dollar price and its back to normal price. Ive had my xboxone for over a week now and had the xbox360 version disc copy of minecraft so not sure why this isnt work. Does it matter if its digital or
disc? Or is the program now over?

 

Phone Support people, the guy just did it for me, what he did was he put money on my account and I paid the 19.99$ and downloaded Minecraft from my Xbox One Store, so I had 26$ on my account not my credit card but my Microsoft Account like if you use a 15$
card it goes onto a separate account, he added the difference...

So I had 26, he put money on my account, bring it up over 40$ I bought Minecraft and still have 19.90 or something. so it would have been 26$ minus 4.99 after taxes like 6 or so...

It worked out for me I am pumped to play!!

Was going to upgrade today, and found this issue that everyone is talking about. Probably going to call the number as well.

It is much easier for you to request a call from them, wait and they will phone you and have all your account information already prepared, that is how I did it, anyway I hope it works out for you all.

I also hope Microsoft looks into the people who paid the 19.99$ that should have had the 4.99$ Discount price, think it would be the right thing to do pay those people back.

 

yeah looks like i will have to give them a call as well. I might also check with the twitter xbox support as well to see what they have to say about this issue

 

I'm on the phone with Xbox Support as I type this and the representative was trying to tell me that the promotion ended. After politely stating otherwise and providing the link to show the FAQ about the upgrade and stating there was no stated end date. Instead
of crediting my account the difference so I only have to pay $5, they're escalating Mthe issue to management as it is a "known issue" and now I have to wait God knows how long for it to be "fixed" just o get Minecraft. If I wasn't so frugal, I would just go
to Gamestop and get a disc copy for full price at $19.99 because all this hassle and wait just to get Minecraft for $5 really doesn't seem worth it.
