  1. Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?!

I'm at my wit's end and am becoming increasingly frustrated.

For a while, we were able to connect to Xbox Live with no problem, just the odd disconnection. Then it all went wrong and we had a jig about with routers etc and finally got everything working, using a Netgear WI-FI extender to reach the Xbox 360 in the front
room and then passing this through a Netgear router, connecting via ethernet cable to the XBox. For a few weeks this was perfect and we thought we'd cracked it, but recently it has a habit of disconnecting, usually mid-game, and either reconnecting or not
bothering at all. As we mainly play FIFA, this is particuarly annoying as you start a game and, regardless of whether you're winning or losing, Xbox Live disconnects and it puts this down as a defeat. So far, I have plunged from Division 8 to Division 10,
much of this without finishing a game! In addition to this is the cost. We have paid £39.99 to use Xbox Live and find ourselves unable to use it. If it continues, I will find myself in a position of trying to claim some of this money back.

The thing I can't understand is that all the other devices; computers, phones, set top boxes, Roku stick, EVERYTHING, works perfectly and, now that we have fibre broadband, is even better than before. But not Xbox Live. Can somebody explain what is going on,
before we sell up and move to Playstation, please. Thank you.

    :)

    xbox live connection

Why do I get dropped from xbox live when I try to connect using a game? I can connect without a game running, but when I start a game the xbox connection is lost.

    Can't auto-connect to LIVE

Every time I turn on my xbox I automatically sign-in, but I am not connected to xbox LIVE, and it says I can't. When to do the test I can then connect, but only after doing the connection test. Not sure why this just started happening. How do I fix this?

Is your extender and modem apart from each other when you play your game? If so, that may be the problem or the Xbox itself may be giving up after all those years because that same thing happened with my Original Xbox

  6. The extender and router are near to each other; the extended feeds in to the router, which is also connected to our set top box and DVD player, that has apps on it. All of these work fine.

I have tried swapping cables round and putting a new cable from the extender to the router. Initially, this seems to have made a difference. I will report back after giving it some time to work.

  7. Bought brand new cables, plugged the wi-fi extended directly into the Xbox. No difference. It happens when I try wireless, too. Used to work fine, and occasionally still does, but losing connection in the 88th minute of a game is very, very annoying.

  8. Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?!

Hey, OfficialVentrio! I'm very sorry to see any disconnect issues! Even wired, it should be working, but the Xbox 360 tends to get finicky with extenders. Can you please post back with the information below so that we can work on troubleshooting with you?

i am having a somewhat similar issue. i have the 250 gigabyte internal removable hard drive xbox 360 and have begun having major issues with connection. my mom cant even play any online games and i constantly have disconnection issues on my offline games.
our ps3 is doing same thing. when we run network test it has

    latency:77ms

    packet loss: 88%

    upload speed 14mb/s

    download 22mb/s

before i started having issues my tests were

    latency 56ms

    packet loss 0%

    upload 32mb/s

    download 33 mb/s

my phone company keeps saying its our equipment and not theirs but the xbox 360 and ps3 are both having connection issues and wired straight into their ethernet switch router keeps coming back as the ip address not being obtainable. plugged into our belkin
router it willo connect but only at 9mbs upload and 12 download. can anyone tell me if it is our systems going out or if its their router going bad or something?

  10. Hey, bixkid22! With an 88% packet loss, wired directly into their router that you are paying them for, it's likely their side. I suggest reaching out to them again and pushing for them to check it since you're having this issue on multiple devices in your
    home.

For the future, if you continue having issues after a new router, please post up a new detailed thread so that our community can work on helping you out. This prevents us from commandeering another user's thread. Thanks for understanding!

  11. Having spoken to my ISP, and having checked all the settings, it seems the problem lies with Xbox. What happens is, while it may connect to Xbox Live quite easily, the EA Servers seem to be regularly unavailable. When I start to play a game, it flashes up
with the message that connection has been lost, but Xbox Live is still connected. I gather, after looking at forums, that this is a regular occurrence.

  12. Here's some information for you:

What Country/State/Province do you live in?: UK

    Modem brand & model number:

Router brand & model number: Sagemcom (Plusnet Hub One)

How many consoles do you have connected to this router?: 1, via a TPLink extender

Wired or wireless (for each console): Wired

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal adapter (Xbox 360 S/E)?:

Things you have tried: Everything! Also via a Netgear router used as an extender, which helps all the On Demand channels on our telly work perfectly.

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: No

    Is UPnP Enabled?: Don't know

Any Error Codes you encounter: 80151909

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?: Plusnet

Other info includes 0% packet loss and 217ms latency.

After you run "Test Xbox Live connection", press “A” for "More Info”, and then "Y" for "Status". In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

    W: 0000-000B

    X: 0600-F001

    Y: 20A8-4840

    Z: 0000-0000

    ID: FFFF-FFFF

    L: 0015-10F1

    Q: 0015-10F1

    T: WIRED

    D: 192.168.1.254/0.0.0.0

    S: ?

    C: ?

    A: 192.168.1.90/255.255.255.0

    G: 192.168.1.254

The above was the status as it connected to Xbox Live. As I have already said, it seems to connect often but disconnects when playing a game and also states 'the EA servers are not available at this time' with depressing regularity.

Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?!

    Hey OfficialVentrio -

Thanks for the extra information. It sounds like you currently have your Xbox 360 wired to the TPLink extender, which is receiving a signal from your Sagemcom, is that correct? (Also, what is the exact model of your Sagemcom?)

Are you able to try connecting your Xbox 360 directly into your Sagemcom to see if you continue to experience the issue? You are currently experiencing a pretty high latency which could be causing the random disconnects. By connecting your Xbox 360 directly
into your network, you may experience a drop in latency which would improve the Xbox Live experience for you.

Keep us posted. Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?! :)

    Hey OfficialVentrio -

Thanks for the info. Couple more questions so bear with me here. Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?! :) Can you provide the model number of your TPLink extender and the Netgear router you have been using as well?

Additionally, it looks like your Plusnet Hub One is capable of 2.4GHz and 5GHz as well as utilizing WPS. Which GHz band is your Hub set to use? And do you have WPS enabled? 2.4GHz is optimal for longer ranges and WPS should be turned off if at all possible.

Lastly, are you able to move either your networking set up or your Xbox 360 console to be closer to each other? Or are you able to run a long ethernet cable from your console to your Hub to see if that helps at all?

Let us know. Why can I not connect to Xbox Live and, when I do, why do I get disconnected?! :)
