Why aren't the gamertags "a Dc" and "zlq" freed up

I checked when these accounts last played and it said that:
- zlq last played 15 years ago
- a Dc last played 12 years ago

To my knowledge, gamertags of accounts that haven't been touched in 5 years get freed up.
It says this in: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...y when an account is,so the account is active.

Wrong.

If a tag does not sign in for 5 years it might be freed up & if the account linked to a gamertag does not sign in for 2 years then the tag linked to that account may be freed up.

Gamertags aren't just used on Xbox live so a tag may look inactive but is being used somewhere else in the system.

With the recent update to the gamertag system, you can use the gamertag now. https://support.xbox.com/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/gamertag-updates-faq

Otherwise, the original gamertag would only be freed up if the original owner changes it to something else or it gets freed up by Microsoft. There is no way to know exactly when it will be freed up.
