Why aren't Ryse and Forza on sale?

Crimson Dragon? I don't [Mod Removed] about that being on sale, wasn't everyone saying Ryse and Forza we're going to be part of the Deals with Gold program?

@Goth you aren't missing much with Forza. Its pretty, but I despise racing games. I actually got two copies of Forza and gave one away.

@CampSite Hopefully we can get a race in soon. Still waiting on private lobbies in Titanfall so I can drop my Titan on you.

@Dynamic I would have much rather played Ryse than Forza.

 

Game reccomendations?

Forza is great online, but there aren't many tracks. DR 3 is fun. I've only heard good things about Ryse. BF4 is a broken down mess.

 

I already have the digital version of Ryse so I can't see if that is on sale but Forza 5 is on sale at £26.79.

 

Ryse is still £44 in the store but as above Forza is now £26.79

 

Not on sale yet but the OP is a prime example of what I was talking about in a party earlier. Stop feeling like you are entitled to a deal. Consumers
(edited for language by a moderator) and complain about rehased games, and yearly sequels yet we wait and wait to buy a promising new IP, until a price drop suits our bottom dollar. Part of me wishes MS went ahead with their
initial vision last year.

 

Lol, if they are going to promote the sale through their marketing/blog posts, they have an obligation to deliver. Duh.

 

By the way, charging full retail price for a digital copy of game is ridiculous in the first place.

Checked an hour ago and Forza and Ryse we're both still 59.99 for the digital copy. Don't be mad because you bought those games already and aren't going to be able to take advantage of the deal

Popular games like Ryse and FM5 will continue to sell even at a high price point, but those that aren't selling very well or that haven't been popular for some time will get the sales in order to increase the amount of purchases. If they give discounts to
popular games too soon the developers and MS can actually lose money, but if they give discounts to less popular games, they can potentially increase the amount of profit through sales - it's basic economics.

 

Haha, what a coincidence that both Ryse and Forza came out with DLCs shortly before their scheduled Deals with Gold sale. As if the only way to monetize a game these days is off the initial sale, ahahah.

Too further one up Galactic Geek, it's very hard to lose money on sales of a digital game. No distribution cost, no cut for retailers, no cost for packaging, no cost for the HD-DVD. Therefore they can easily charge less for a digital copy and there is
still plenty of room for profit.

Bandwidth costs for MS and the digital downloads costs far more than packaging and distribution. End Of.

Amazon Web Services charges less if you use more bandwidth, starting at 12 cents per GB, if you use over 350 TB month, it is low as 5 cents per GB. Thanks for playing. It's probably even cheaper for Microsoft, since they don't need a middleman.

 

Actually he's not, the cost of actually fabricating a physical copy of a game is a tiny percentage of the overall cost, a few pounds at most.

The cost of hosting a digital copy though is much higher, the cost of building the servers, maintaining them, the bandwidth for uploading them, it all adds up.

Also Microsoft and Sony do not want to undercut their retail partners. Wal-Mart, Game stop, Game etc all make more profit on games sold than the sale of a console. If Microsoft undercut these stores, they may not want too stock their games or even their
hardware.
