Why are Xbox 360 Families being penalized?

I have to agree with that, there is no forcing anything as it falls under consumers choice. I am curious as to why party chat is locked to gold though, I have always wondered about that.

 

We are being forced if we want our kids to have their Xbox Live back. My kids have been out of Xbox live since they ended the family plan. The only way they getting it back is if I am "FORCED" to buy an Xbox One for them......

The fact of the matter is Microsoft knows most families want to make their kids happy, many others just give their kids what they want and spoil them and many more just want to keep their kids occupied so they dont have to deal with them and online gaming
does that for them (not us - lol). So they take away a feature from a console that is still in most homes being used around the world by families today to "FORCE" them into buying the newer system at an extreme high cost in order for them to be able to keep
what they already had going for them with Xbox Live for their children.

Seriously, explain a better reason for doing away with it when it is still the primary gaming console so many homes, why take it away other than to put more money in their bank accounts, im listening........

I understand your frustration buddy but as stated, if you really feel strongly about then the best place for you to go is the Feedback Forums.

As for being forced, that is a strong word to use. I would of gone with lack of choice myself because that is what it is, a choice. The family plan was cut off a while back and I may be wrong but I cant see it coming back, simply due to the 360's life expectancy
now that the next generation is here. It is only a matter of time before it becomes unsupported.

And as I stated, not forced, but given the option to either spend all the money you have for an Xbox One or your out of luck, Microsoft isnt going to revert back to the family plan so why waste my time in the feedback forum? My feedback is all right here
already. Xbox One has not even been out a year and your talking "Unsupported" already - lol - The family plan was only shut down 6 months ago, about the time this thread was started up. I dont understand how you talk about Microsoft bring back the family plan
but then the 360 will be unsupported in the same paragraph, that makes no sense whatsoever.

The feedback forum is the only section that microsoft have a chance of seeing your comments.

If you look online you can get 12 month subscriptions for as little as £25 here in the UK,buying 4 of those is about the same as what the family pack cost for 4 people.

You do not have to buy an xbox one,i certainly haven`t.

 

Our family plan ended in November 2013 as we paid for a year of it the previous November so we did not get any extra time and that's when it ended for us. Why not move this entire thread to the feedback forum so Microsoft can see everyone else's feelings
in this thread as well instead of just mine, not that it would change anything. I would do that if I could or knew how but again, Microsoft wont care enough to bring it back as they want everyone to go the Xbox One route. I am not in the UK so what you pay
there for Xbox Live means nothing to us in the US.

 

Xbox family was ended and not being offered to new customers in march 2013. In August of 2013 they announced that any accounts that were currently using a family plan would be converted into a Standard Individual accounts.

Part of that conversion included an extra 3 months added onto the end of the subscription for each of the accounts.

This was emailed to the lead account on every family plan.

 

If you really want the thread moving to the feedback forum send a moderator a private message and ask them if they will do it for you.

Yes, your right UK prices are nothing to do with you but you surely have online sites in the US too.

I bet you can get 12 months for between $30-40 if you shop around.

4 of those add up to not much more than the $99 you were paying for the family pack.

 

I will look into that an see what I can find, obviously purchasing Xbox Live through Microsoft is only for the rich - lol

As a former family plan member I am going to say that I also think the it's discontinuation sucked! It was a great deal, and the fact that advanced notice was given and Microsoft has no obligation to offer it does not mean that it going away sucks any less.
It was a nice bone to throw out to folk who had multiple family members who wanted to play or those of us with multiple consoles or some combination of the two. I was hoping that they were going to put out an update for Xbox 360 to enable gold sharing on there
as well but that didn't seem to pan out.

I was lucky personally after my family plan was converted to individual accounts I went looking at my subscriptions and low and behold the renew option was available so I renewed and my family account went back active for a few weeks before getting split
again. I got the extra three months they stuck on each account twice so I actually have all of my tags available until about this time next year.

 

So, Daddyo, Your're complaining about being able to get a better deal than the family plan was........
