Why are Xbox 360 Families being penalized?

I just want to state that I am a Xbox fan all the way to the core, but OWEN, even if they bought an Xbox one, and paid only 60$ a month. They still wouldn't turn a profit over the 500$ they paid for the console, because at that rate it would take them 12.5years
to pay back the 500$ for the console, because they are only saving 40$ a year. And by the time 12 years has past we will be on the next generation of consoles.

So in my opinion, even as a bonified xbox fan, as a family I would look into other options.

Xbox 360 Home Gold... No?

Wow, so not only is MS stopping the discounting for families, they require you to pay even more subscriptions if you are Xbox 360 user instead of Xbox One user. Totally *** loyal Xbox 360 families.

Not good. It was bad enough that Xbox One doesn't play any of the Xbox 360 games (at all), but now we have to pay more to keep playing them.

I have always supported Microsoft, buy I am starting to see why so many people are trying to get away from them. It is too bad. Hopefully Microsoft wakes up before I have to choose between an Xbox One and another console.

Being as there is no way to trade or sell 360 digital games, why don't they keep the X1 family sharing feature, but only for digital purchases on that platform.

 

My point was they are going to buy a PS4 to avoid paying for online play....don`t sony charge now?

As a family,it makes more sense to upgrade to an xbox one,you only need one gold account.

 

Sorry to double post, and those numbers above are if they still had the family plan for the 360. What I was trying to say above, to clarify. Is that if the family plan still existed, you could get 12.5 more yrs out of your 360 at the same price that you
would it would cost you to have 12.5 yrs with the X1. Now that may not sound too bad for the X1, but who is goin to be playing the x1 in 12.5yrs? They will be on the next gen. Plus as said this is based on the family plan, now that that is gone you are definitely
goin to save with the X1, and that's why Microsoft got rid of the family plan. It's all about money, and I know a lot of families can't afford and x1, so as said earlier, find an alternative.

Microsoft knew that if they kept the family plan alive it would be cheaper to own a 360 as a family, so they cut it and pushed the X1 and the marketing gimmick there was that you can own am X1 with only one Gold membership and everyone is gold. Forcing
families to have to upgrade or find alternative.

With Microsoft making people they will save money bay switching to the X1 , they are profiting, because like I said above, they won't start losing peridots from this situation until after 12.5 years. Long after the next gen of consoles come out.

In the end Microsoft is a money hungry company, but I still support them because my gut tells me that they will have something huge in store for us one day.

 

Yes Sony do charge for online play on the PS4 but the offer access to the apps and party chat to all membership levels.

 

OWEN, you are right, I am pretty sure that Sony charges as well now and the x1 could possibly be cheaper than the ps4.

My point is that it was wrong of Microsoft to blindside families like that.

If you want the break down: if you pay 240$ a yr now by the third year you would have paid 720$

If you buy an x1 today, by the third year you would have been in about 680$(this includes the 500$ for the x1)

What I'm saying is at that rate you would start losing money by the third yr if you pay 240$ a yr for 360.

So if you are goin to make a decision on what to do, do it soon, don't wait because you are losing money very quickly. And if I want to be harsh, that's basically what Microsoft is saying. Switch today or we are going to destroy your wallet...lol(this is
no laughing matter so ignore that lol)

 

The family pack ended in march 2013,the xbox was released in november/december, not exactly blind sided.

Those that managed to get extra time on the family pack got plenty of warning that it was ending.

 

Yes but it is also wrong for MS to say hey, switch or else. The family plan users will be losing money throught the lifetime of the X1. MS left ppl with a middle option that is quite expensive.

Best bet for family play users, if u can, trade toward and X1, and just try and get any discount deals you can find for one year gold offers. Like on the dashboard when they have offers for 1yr gold at a discount, or the 12+2 month prepaid cards

 

Anyone paying $60 a year for gold simply isn`t shopping around.

The U.K price on the dashboard is usually £39.99,you can get gold cards for as little as £25 online,i am sure its the same in the U.S.

If microsoft stick to the rumoured plans of shutting down 360`s live in 2016,its really not that much to pay out over the next 2-3 years.

 

Plus i know you could stack prepaid 12+ cards on your account up to 5 years on the 360, idk if that still stands on the X1 or not.

 

i do sympathies with everyone , but truth be told, love ice in a Freddy world, Orr if you're an optimist everyone needs to eat. We all need to make a living in some way or another. And MS can't do that by giving away there X1 for free. It's a new console,
and it's goin to be expensive. Although all it is is a glorified 360 that controls your tv. and I don't even have cable, dish, ect.) I just watch Netflix. And my room is to small for kinect. So it's just a glorified 360 to me.

i know what you want to hear, but there is not really much we as a community can do against a giant like MS.

it wouldn't have killed them to leave the family plan up exclusively for 360, until they close the servers.

us talking about it isn't getting people anywhere though.

So like Owen said, shop around, check the dashboard for discounts, find prepaid 12+ cards. That's all you can really do if you want to stick with MS.

The fact of the matter is a majority of families that need the family plan CANT AFFORD an XBOX ONE - lmao - thats the problem, $500 plus to buy a new system when you already have a working 360 that costed you an arm and a leg as it was is not possible. So
lets penalize the american family to force them to buy a new system because you took away what they could already barely afford - makes a lot of sense Microsoft....o wait it does because all you care about is filling your damn wallets!!

 

Nobody is forcing you to buy anything,if you can`t afford the luxury item,which all games consoles are,don`t buy one.
