Why Are Some Older Gamers So Grumpy?

OP - Maybe people are grumpy with YOU because you refer to yourself as amazing and speak in third person?

i would like to know, why i cannot connect wth many other gamers when playing top spin 4 online.

Next my second question: the list of players in the lobby is not correct. there are some very old listngs.

 

I feel like I am get too old to be gamer ??

42 years old and game all the time lucky for me I found www.oadgaming.com a place for gamers over 30.just alot of real nice gamers that are in the same age group.if you want to stop buy go ahead it's free hope to see some of you older gamers there....

I'm 48.....I don't tend to get grumpy until the "kids" start doing stupid stuff, like team killing, or wrecking you out in a race, etc.

I have zero tolerance for idiots like that.

 

Cough cough, I'm 40, still a teenager in the head tho. Can't say I've ever been called a grumpy gamer, and don't plan to be either. If I do get that way I'll take a virtual slap in the face please

I think the only thing that winds me up is people playing music down the mic, but I just mute and carry on.

 

Everybody is grumpy no matter what age you are. Older gamers may appear grumpy towards younger gamers, generally teenagers, because of the way a lot of them act due to lack of maturity and all that. Which is fair enough.

You have to admit that the generations of children are getting worse and if you think the kids of today are bad, 20-30 years from now we might all be doomed.

 

I like to be grumpy, and after 63 years I think I deserve to be. I dodged the bullet many times to make it this far, so I hope all you young people make it some day also.

 

I didn't read Goth's wall of text =p but I think the funny thing is that a lot of the grumpy people on the forums aren't even that old! haha.

 

The only time I get grumpy with other gamers is when you've got some little kid screaming in their mic. Then I mute them. I get grumpy with them because I work with children all day and then hear it on LIVE. But since I don't talk unless I'm playing with
my friends they never hear my grumpiness.

I like to think that I don't discriminate based on age. While it may be true that many younger gamers may be more annoying and many older gamers may be grumpy, I usually judge others by how they treat and socialize with me, and I do this on a case by case
basis, not by age. Young or old, it matters not, if you game, you're a gamer in my book and I'll either help you or hinder you depending on the game played and whether we're on the same team or not.

 

I'm 45 and I'm not grumpy. Well, not very often. I certainly hope I've never come across as grumpy on the forums.

Like others have said, age is a state of mind. I decided to stop at about 14. Definitely a big kid. My kids and the missus will vouch for that. I'm sensible when I absolutely have to be. The rest of the time I have fun. I love gaming, always have, always
will.

 

It's because at Level 40 - also known as age 40 - you unlock the "Grumpy" perk. It's great! I use it as a perk in every custom class.

In my gaming experience, I can't recall any instances of older gamers attacking younger and making age the issue. If anything, age has taught me that no one really wins a virtual drop-kicking match on the internet or on XBL, so I've learned to wield the
mute button like a samurai wields his sword.

And my mic is switched off most of the time, so nobody will ever know how grumpy I am.

 

Hello everyone

I recommend that when an individual is "grumpy", they do something relaxing first before playing because gaming in an angry state can get ugly fast.

With that being said, please keep in mind that I'm a 95% solo gamer & 5% multiplayer gamer (Cooperative Modes only, I have PvP Modes) and I can only imagine that gaming in an angry state in a multiplayer game is probably a really bad idea.
