My Microsoft password has changed by someone else at least 30 times this year. I have to constantly cancel orders that somebody else made. Why can't Microsoft require the cvv number off the back of the card like other retailers do or at least encrypt
the information. Every card number I entered was stolen so I took them all out and I finally had to lock my credit cards so that no online purchases can't be made. The person who hacked the account still changes my password and tries to order by entering the
blocked card and making up a name to go with my address.

I've about had it. I love my Xbox but this is ridiculous. Microsoft seems to downplay the serious hacking problem. The PlayStation is looking better everyday and I'm on the verge.

    :)

In order to change a password on a microsoft account is to have access to what microsoft calls a security proof.

A security proof is one of 2 things

    1. A phone number.

    2. An email address

Now when a change (like a password change, security proof change, email change) is requested MS will ask where you want a code sent to so they can verify ownership of the account to allow this change to go through.

So if someone is changing your password on your account they would need to have access to one of your security proofs to change it.

If your security proof is an email then its possible that your email has been hacked and that has nothing to do with microsoft.

You can check what security proofs you have on your account by going to account.live.com and signing in with your account and going to security and update security info and it should ask for a code to be sent out and then you can check to see if there is
any security proofs that you dont recognize their.

You can also set up two step verification at the bottom of the security page there is see more options and when you click on that there is a choice to setup two step verification and what this does is when a change like previously stated is attempted it
will require 2 different codes be sent out to 2 different security proofs.

Sounds like just you. Provide evidence that so many Xbox Live accounts getting hacked.

You should tell the whole story instead of the half story. You either game shared with someone you shouldn't have or you have house or room mates that you shouldn't trust.

Steeledwand7664 has a more productive answer but you aren't telling the whole truth.

    Cheater

Of course you can be hacked on Xbox live. The password for the account is the very same password for Microsoft live including messenger. People's PCs get hacked all the time with many exploits designed to get that password.which also allows access to hotmail
accounts. They need to set up an Xbox specific password but even that could be exploited if you sign into Xbox Live on a PC or tablet.

    30 F****king days!

Remind me again, how many times has PSN been hacked & peoples information stolen in the past few years due to lack of security?

    Two or three I believe.

How many times has xbox live been hacked since it began 15 years ago? None.

It can take up to 30 days for a reason.Swearing isn't going to make that time go any faster.
Why not 48 hours or even a week? why 30 days surely 48 hours is sufficient enough time for someone to realise their account has been hacked. Also, PSN got hacked once, when it was a free service (which is still one to many) but xbox live accounts get hacked
as well, so thats not really saying much. This 30 day waiting period is ridiculous, and the fact that not even the microsoft teams can help even though you have all the relevant information is even more ridiculous! Being told to wait 30 days after you forked
out £500 for a console is a joke, and you know it is.
