Why are Season Passes not on sale ? Part II

I have to ask the question again cause the former thread was locked but the answer wasn't correct ! here a little summary:

Depending on the statement of 2 different publishers (Warner, Codemasters) the game publishers do
NOT have any influence on sales in the MS store (wonder how those contracts between MS and the publishers look like ^^) ! They only decide the regular price but not the rebates or what is on sale.

So the question is still unanswered, why are people who already have the game are disadvantaged, because the game + season pass is on sale, but the season pass itself is not ?

So why is the deluxe version of FF15 (with season pass) on sale for $30 but the season pass itself is not on sale? With the season pass priced at $25 that would make the cost of the game with the sale only $5.

at the moment LEGO Batman 3 is on sale, the basic version and the Deluxe Edition (game + season pass).

I wonder why the season pass is not on sale ? and that's the not the first game where that happens.

3rd party publishers decide the price not ms

It would be a violation of consumer laws and commerce if ms did and this iss in fact a law

Ummm who did you talk to corporate or a customer support agent? You are talking about msrp

Which is different from sales

Ask gamestop if they can drop prices on games it would be a no just like ms

A customer support agent doesn't know publishers agreements nor would they deal with pricing

Considering that Amazon got fines in the millions when they forced ebook publishers to give ebooks for 99cents

Back in 2000 during the kindle rage I doubt ms would do the same

They can ask the publishers for a sale but again the publishers have final say because it's the publishers who get all the proceeds from the sale

Activision and capcom had a sale recently on

 

And usually they are called publishers sales like capcom or activision

Ms can suggest a price but to tell a publisher to lower a price is what people call price fixing

To artificially reduce or increase a price to force other publishers to cut prices

Code masters and your other company would never aggrees to that and face federal fines

They would have to decrease prices a cross the board

 

At anytime a publisher can lower the msrp

If code masters lowers their msrp for a week guess what that would be a sale

Hence why the publisher in this case code masters sets the prices

You can actually google publishers sales and it always refers to the publishers not the stores

Support agent cannot say anything about corporate policies nor can they comment about agreements sjnce it's is above their paygrade

You cant talk directly to anyone who has say over pricing because that's corporate to corporate

So I donno why they gave you a bad statement about their company

 

Or the marketing department again it's not someone a consumer can actually talk to

Ask any store or publisher

They will tell you the same thing

Corporate msrp is set by publishers

I can only form an opinion on the informations I get and what I observe myself.

2 publishers gave me the same statement independently from each other, that they don't have influence on the sales. But that doesn't mean that MS forces them in any way, I guess this is regulated by a legal contract (but I don't know that and I am
quite sure that I never will ^^), but I never assumed something illegal !

What I see myself is, that there are "Deals of the Week" every week in the MS store with games from different publishers. If the game offers a season pass it is
never on sale, but if there is a Gold/Complete Edition (game plus season pass) it is on sale ! Isn't it a legitimate question why this is so ?

But why should every publisher do the same strange thing every week ???

Again I don't know how or why this is so (thats why I was asking !) but who else than MS should be responsible for that ?

And even if not, why should I as a customer inform the publishers about that issue while MS is in a much better position to do so and to initiate a change for the better ?!

And apple vs music publishers

What you are describing is something completely different

Ms asks or pays the publishers as a subsidy to get the deals still in the court of the publishers

No one you can talk to at codemasters can tell you about their aggreements

Tech support doesn't have access to the partner aggreements

Marketing vp or corporate relations who are not customer facing would have any knowledge of such aggreements

 

Msrp is manufacturer suggested retail price

Which you have to ask the publisher

Ok let's say MS is paying for it - sounds logic. So they pay for the game and they pay for the game plus season pass to put it on sale, do you really think they had to pay more if they would put the season pass alone on sale ? Does that sounds logic to you
? not to me !

And thats all I want and what I am talking about, that MS (!) puts the season passes on sale too. And even if they had to pay more, I don't have to ask the publishers, because it would be the decision of MS.

But at least I still hope that this issue is just based on a slight neglect of MS and could be solved very easily !!! but if the support tells me, that MS is not responsible, then I must fear that the appropriate MS team will never be informed about that
issue !

Feedback site offering that we work with publishers for pricing with deals on Season Passes. Remember that Season Passes are already a discounted version of buying all the DLC, and that "Gold Edition" games are generally discounted because of the game,
not because of the Season Pass.
