  1. Why are digital prices high?

Doc's right, at least partially - I've checked with numerous stores (Gamestop only 1 among many) and I'd be lucky to get $5 for each game. Most of my games are of the digital variety that I've collected from XBLA, but I would buy physical AAA titles.

So, looking into my Xbox 360 collection, the physical games I still possess are (in no particular order):

    Injustice - Gods Among Us

    Bioshock

    Battlefield - Bad Company 2

    Halo 4

    Battlefield 3 - Limited Edition

    Mortal Kombat

    Portal 2

The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

    Mass Effect 2

    Halo Reach

Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3

    Red Dead Redemption

    Bioshock Infinite

    Dark Souls

    Batman - Arkham City

    Forza Motorsport 4

I also have Grand Theft Auto 4 and Call of Duty - Black Ops 2, but those are digital titles. Why are digital prices high? :(

The reason why I think it's high is because M has no competition when it comes to digital downloads. All digital downloads go through Xbox Live. Sure you can get DLC tokens/codes from a retailer, but their is no other legit online service except through
Xbox Live where you can download stuff including avatar items or games for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. If they had competition where another online provider offered a similar service which could be used in conjunction with Xbox, they might offer better prices and
    then you'd have competition.

Speaking of trade ins since I was trying to save money, disc version, I got rid of Watch Dogs and Marvel Super Heroes Lego both retail versions. I got them for about NZ$99 JB Hi Fi and $68 EB Games. I traded them in on Tuesday and they paid me $68 for trading
in those two games. Not too bad. The money went towards Forza Horizon 2 which is all paid off and ready to collect come release date.

  3. "PH, it's different for everyone. My games are years old - yours were likely a couple of months or so and still selling."

Some of them I did get in 2013 but others were years older. Heck, Dark Souls was fourteen bucks. I did take advantage of a trade-in promotion but that's just being smart. I remember when I sold AC III a few yrs ag and got more money off it then what I actually
paid for which went towards buying a brand new game.

Trade-in promotions... *Pff* Shouldn't even have need of those.

Bing rewards make trade ins irrelevant for me. I still haven't paid out of pocket for a single game on Xbox One.

I'll be buying all my games digitally on the US xbox store from here on out. Instead of £59.99, can get them for £36 ($59.99).

  7. I have Bing Rewards too, BA, but have never taken advantage of it. I'm curious though - how many games have you been able to get through Bing Rewards so far (and how)?

Hello everyone Why are digital prices high? :)

I've never purchased any Digital Version of full games as I've always prefered Disc Copies Why are digital prices high? :)

Maybe the extra surcharge is a service fee or something?

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone Why are digital prices high? :)

  9. Some places (including MS store) offer $10 gift cards or other incentives for pre-ordering/purchasing the disc copy. Money doesn’t grow on trees. I have to earn it. So, you know, I try to spend it wisely and plan accordingly (e.g. value purchases, rentals,
    trade-ins etc).

A little off topic: Anyone going to download Warframe? It’s going to be FREE, and have micro-transactions. I’ve seen some gameplay and it looks interesting. It’s on my watch-list.

  10. "Trade-in promotions... *Pff* Shouldn't even have need of those." Why? I've saved tons of money by paying attention and knowing the best value I can get. I got Grand Theft Auto V BRAND NEW for ten bucks by trading in Skyward Sword and a god knows how old(I
    think it was..Diamond?) Pokemon game.

I paid 30 bucks for ACIII new and sold it to Gamespot for forty which went right towards a fresh new copy of Ni No Kuni--on sale.

@Galactic If we are just talking Xbox One I've got Dead Rising 3+Season Pass when it was on sale+The ridiculously named dlc, Killer Instinct ($20 version), Strider, Strike Suit Zero, Sniper Elite 3 and come Tuesday I'll be getting Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate
and Dance Central Spotlight all for FREE.99. I spend my Bing points and get Amazon Gift cards (just incase I want to buy something other than a game) and turn those into Xbox Gift cards when I want to buy a game off the marketplace.

I have two accounts. One for my Xbox Email which I get $5 a month and one for my work email which I get $10 a month (don't ask me how as I don't know. Some people get 5 and others 10 it seems). That's $180 a year if I do my searches consistently. Plus I
refer a lot of people which is an addition $5 if/when they reach silver status. Off referrals this year I think I got $25 or $30.

My mother and aunt typically email me $5 Xbox cards from bing whenever they get up enough points and feel like it lol. Normally they just enter raffles though.

Between Bing and digital sharing I haven't purchased a single game out of pocket (well I did preorder DA:3 deluxe edition but I will take it back when/if I can redeem the preorder dlc codes without opening it and buy it digitally. I thought I was going to
have to pay for something in October but everything was delayed.

You could use Bing Rewards for Playstation cards via Amazon too if one was so inclined. Better than any trade in deals I've seen since I don't lose anything in the equation... And the devs see some kind of profit from it...

Well I dunno, I own a US Saturn version of Panzer Dragoon Saga and i've seen that fetching $400 or so online. I did own Snatcher for the Sega CD, and ending up selling that off for about $250. I don't normally sell games, but I really needed the cash and
despite my love for Sega, I have little interest in collecting Sega CD stuff. I still have lots of other gems in my collection like an import D&D Collection for Saturn, Castlevania Symphony of the Night for import Saturn, and a US Saturn version of Shining
Force 3 to name a few. So yeah if I were to sell i'd get a heck of a lot more then $5. Anyway, i'll deal with this more when I wake up, im in desperate need of sleep.
