Why are digital prices high?

Remember you can do digital sharing too, my mate plays my digital games on his console

 

The plain and simple answer is greed.

Nah im sticking with greed. Their cutting out the middle man an making a greater profit, all the while they know these games cannot be resold and whoever buys them essentially has next to no rights with them. As I said they cannot resell it, they cannot
let a friend use is. Their pretty much stuck with it.

 

Cutting out the middle man? Please... Many digital games can be bought from retail via cards with codes.

 

That it true. However im not sure how they obtain the codes to begin with. It it digitally where a place like Amazon simply has to copy and paste a code to an email? I have seen them in stores too and they only take a fraction of the shelf space which is
appealing to the retailer. But in the end its still a middle man and the store has to make a profit too. We're talking about getting the digital download direct from Microsoft with no retail outlet involved.

 

Greed would be the case if the customer had no other options to buy said product. If you don't agree with the digital price, you can shop elsewhere for a physical copy for a cheaper price. You can't blame companies for wanting to make money... that is
what they are in a business to do.

 

Which is my point on the first page. Publishers know that a lot of users want to go Digital. They have the leverage over Xbox Lives Store, price is 59.99 for the game.

 

Not to mention zero manufacturing costs...for digital.

Nope Egg, I don't blame them for wanting to make money. However they would get a lot more digital sales if the prices were lower. I never buy digital game I can get a physical version of unless I feel they offer me a good enough sale price.

 

PH, it's different for everyone. My games are years old - yours were likely a couple of months or so and still selling.

 

Eh GG? Maybe im just too tired from lack of sleep the past few days, but what games are we talking about here? You digital only games are years old and mines are not, and mine are a few months old? Im sorry but you lost me here. Im a game collector and prefer
physical copies. My collection consist of 1000s and dates back to the Master System. Cool if you have stuff older then that. I so regret getting rid of my NES, and 2600. I still have a 2600 Flashback though. Im sorry if its the wrong answer, but im not sure
what your saying.

 

No Phantasystar... GG has an impressive games collection. (a lot of hard copy) And he was saying that if he were to trade in his old collection he would get like 5 bucks haha.

 

Well I dunno, I own a US Saturn version of Panzer Dragoon Saga and i've seen that fetching $400 or so online. I did own Snatcher for the Sega CD, and ending up selling that off for about $250. I don't normally sell games, but I really needed the cash and
despite my love for Sega, I have little interest in collecting Sega CD stuff. I still have lots of other gems in my collection like an import D&D Collection for Saturn, Castlevania Symphony of the Night for import Saturn, and a US Saturn version of Shining
Force 3 to name a few. So yeah if I were to sell i'd get a heck of a lot more then $5. Anyway, i'll deal with this more when I wake up, im in desperate need of sleep.
