    Why are certain LGBT terms still not allowed in gamertags?


    It's pride month and 2023 but we still aren't able to have "Sappho" or "Sapphic" in our gamertags. You can't even try alternate spellings like "Sapp1c" or "Sapph0" because they're also not allowed. Xbox is the only platform with this issue, and that makes it kind of frustrating since my other usernames can't match my Xbox gamertag. Neither of these terms are offensive or have ever been offensive, and historically it doesn't really make sense why they aren't permitted. I just want to be able to proudly represent myself this year.

    Hello Sapphic_,

    We receive an update from the Internal Support Team about your concern.

    The terms in correct spelling have already been taken and it would not be possible for you to reuse it. On the brighter side, alternative spelling for these terms: Sappho and Sapphic should be available to be use as part of your gamertag. Just make sure the attached names/character combination before and after these terms should not be blocked.

    That means you'll have to be extra creative in creating your gamertag.
