Why are all Next Gen Games Unfinished?

Also must have been nice not to get stuck on roofs and in walls on Unity.

Lol well seeing as I don't really care for Unity of MCC....

Games in my collection: Forza Horizon 2, Madden 15, SSO, COD:AW, Dragon Age Inquisition, GTA 5.

Problems I've had: lag the first day of COD:AW, expected and resolved. Can join lobbies but can't find anyone to do missions with in GTA5, unsure why.

Everything else is fine. But then again I really don't care for Unity or MCC lol.

It is tough to be a game developer because for those that sincerely try to get a " finished " product out the door of their studio(s) have to release a confirmed launch date when they know that it isn't ready yet; but are forced to do so because of their
financial share holders.

In this case, the use of " patch updates " are acceptable because it allows these sincere developer(s) get to try to fix their game(s).

..........

On the other hand, there are those developer(s) that know that their game(s) aren't ready and release them anyway; hoping that the gamer backlash isn't too negative before they release a patch to fix the problems.

..........

I get it, money is not being made if a game(s) doesn't get released and game(s) can't be in development forever.

Delaying a game(s) release can have a negative effect, but delaying a game(s) is WAY better than dealing with the gamer backlash (in my opinion).

Halo MCC is made by 343 which is a subsidiary of Microsoft (M). M is like the biggest company in the world known for making software and PC Windows OS. For them to release Halo MCC with multiplayer troubles and achievement issues one would think they don't
know how to write code. Certain games may be rushed because video gaming is a popular hobby and it's kind of a let down if a game developer announces a release date and they are unable to get it out on time. Updates can provide a fix. And don't forget Halo
MCC is like 4 games (CE, 2, 3, 4) in 1 (MCC).

Did M do cert testing for Halo MCC? Wouldn't they have picked these issues up then? They probably thought well everyone likes Halo it's a biggy for Xbox so we'll get it out. Everyone knows us as we release updates regularly (which they do for Windows 7,
Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and their other products).

There are good things about MCC. The remastered graphics are excellent. Not all achievements are broken in the game I even have some achievements unlocked from the game. And the campaign is playable. Disc versions also have a 30 day warranty as well. Some
may think that the warranty only applies if there's a coding error with the disc of some sort, but Australia and NZ have special statutory rights as well where we should be able to return the game to the retailer if it doesn't perform well inside the warranty
(warranty details are inside the case).

I won't be returning the game though. Halo is awesomeness and it's a Microsoft product. It won't be long before Microsoft will be hitting us with another update.

 

But randver that isnt the point DC was a DELAYED game DELAYED and yet it was still buggy. and no i dont follow DC why would i? too busy playing all these great games and exclusives

 

@Lei, these are professional games developers from big coding companies, supported by big publishers and backers, these aren't small first timers, they have it easy and they have the resources and experience to boot.

Its about managing expectations, a little more time coding, a little ore time explaining issues before release, a little less time making cinematic trailers and *** that doesn't matter, and they might have a chance.

Lies build distrust and only so many times before people break the norm.

 

i've already broken the norm..in a normal year prior to 2014 I would of bought around 12 games...this year i've only bought 4...the last 6 months i've only purchased destiny and the minecraft upgrade..in the next 6 months atleast I wont buy any...I know
some will say im only one person but I assume I represent X amount of customers that just dont get on and express their displeasure. Industry is sinking, people everywhere should be alarmed at the current trends that have engulfed gaming. try making your
gamers happy first for a change.

 

The generic titles have been incomplete on both ps4 and xb1, the only current console with complete games is the Wii U imo.

Add broken games and microtransactions with DLC already on Disc and you're not asking if, you're asking when will these new x86 machines be hacked.

 

It was the same thing on previous generations,too.

At least now,devs got the opportunity to fix issues,bugs,gliches.

I don't understand why the games today are in worst condition when they are released than the days of the Original Xbox and Xbox 360

If I were to guess, I would say that the developers are relying too much on " Patch Updates " instead of making a sincere effort to deliver a finished game when it is released to the public

I played broken games in the past gen. But I puttey much never played them again. I played a broken game on N64 called MORTAL KOMBAT TRIOGEY.

I agree with you 1000% that they were broken games back then, but the point that I was trying to make is that there are WAY more unpolished games coming out for this console generation.

Yes, " Patch Updates " are very useful indeed. But it doesn't help that some developers don't care about bringing out a playable game. They just go "who cares, we can patch it up later".

I know that now every bug / glitch can be caught during quality control / game de-buggins sessions (for those developers that actually do use this process). This is where using a " Patch Update " is acceptable. I feel that some developers outright skip
the entire quality control / game de-bugging sessions completely.

Long story short, I feel that " Patch Updates " are being abused as an excuse to skip the quality control / game de-bugging sessions.

The funny thing is that none of these games are unplayable. There has been bugs and a few glitches but I'm playing through the campaign of the MCC just fine. Multiplayer is far from polished but I suspect that is more the server side of things than the actual
game which really can't be tested or fixed until the game is out and the servers come under full stress. I'm finding that most of what people are complaining about is the multiplayer portion of games. But to say a game is unplayable is a bit harsh. The surprising
thing is that not everyone experiences the same problems. It would be hard to test and fix these problems before release as they May not crop up in a closed and controlled environment!
