Why are 6 years old playing this game

When it is an 18 rated game and they *** about messing things up not playing co op as it should be, one 6 year old tried to kill me steel my car and wouldn't shut up, I swear he was a girl with that high pitched voice

Someone banned my Xbox for no reason. I am 12 years old and enjoy playing games.

Parents who buy M rated games for their underage kids need to either have their kids taken away from them or go to prison, or both. Why not buy them cigarettes too? Microsoft needs to start cracking down on underage kids playing adult games. Not only do
they ruin them for the people who are actually old enough to play them, but parents are stupid enough to actually send angry Emails and messages to the people who sold or made the game because it was too offensive for their kids or gave them nightmares. What

[/quote]ESRB ratings are not laws, just mere suggestions. If a store is mandated by law (I think in Cali they do, not sure about other states) to not sell to a minor but a parent can buy it, then there is nothing else that can be done. It's not against
the law for a minor to play a mature game, and therefore there are no MS rules against it.

Do I think it's crazy or wrong to have an underage kid playing this game, ABSOLUTELY. There is a lot of content that I would not have a young child of mine watch, let alone play, but there are no laws against it, and IF MS were to put it into their ToU and/or
CoC it will open a gigantic can of worms.

 

What I should have said is it NEEDS to be made a law that minors are not allowed to play M rated games. Game stores need to refuse sales to minors and also parents if they believe that the game will go to a minor. Take for example a parent buying Call of
Duty when their 10 year old is right next to them. The salesperson should point out the rating and the description of said rating and refuse to sell it to them. There should also be a law that says if someone who is obviously a minor is playing multiplayer
in an M rated game that the adults in the game can contact Microsoft and have their account banned or shut down and their console bricked. Then the parents should be held accountable and punished.

 

Honestly I believe it depends on the child. My 14 year old knows and understands that this is just a game. As far as mature content, trust me here, he gets far worse exposure just watching tv or going to school. If a parent decides that their child is mature
enough to play an M rated game, I do not have a problem with it. Personally I watch while he plays an M rated game for the first time. I also play the game myself before deciding if there really is a problem with him playing it. He almost has a deeper voice
then me and he conducts himself well online. I really think it completely depends on the maturity of the child. Also, there are many M rated games that should not be rated M. Halo comes to mind here.

 

To play a little devils advocate... These are not cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol. There is no mental or physical harm playing video games. It shouldn't be illegal for underage kids to play games. It is up to the parents discretion whether their child plays.
If their parent lets them play, they have every right to play these games as much as we do. We, as gamers, do have the option to mute and kick these types of players out our game.

 

There is no mental or physical harm playing video games? Well that's absolute bull... exposing children to adult content will effect them... Kids grow up knowing things to early taking away what makes them children... yes it's up to the parents same way
it's up to us to choose not to play with them... I will swear when playing a game made for adults I have no problem being abusive to someone playing a game they shouldn't be... it's unacceptable and ruins our game experience... In my opinion you shouldn't
be able to be on Live until your 16... I was surprised when I heard a child on this game and he sounded very young.

 

So you are saying you have no problem being abusive to a child? Like I said, kids are exposed to worse on a daily basis, and you appear to be living proof of that.

 

Don't get me wrong I don't mean to an extreme... abusive might have been a strong word... but to say they shouldn't be on the game and I'm not going to watch what I say in front of them like I would if I was playing a game with no age rating... kids shouldn't
but may well be exposed to worse things on a daily basis so why add to it by letting them play whatever they want... this only leads to doing other things before they should like smoking, drinking ect... why put rules into place and break them... then wonder
why your children don't listen... give children the choice to do what they want when they are not mentally mature to cope with it... yes game is just an example and I may be going over the top a little... but the little things add up to bigger problems...
maybe it's just me to think age ratings are put there for a reason. To say I'm living proof of children are exposed to worse things I'm not going to a childrens park and swearing, they came into the adult environment.

In a way, this is like buying cigarettes for them. The parents buy something for their underage kids and then complain when there's a negative result. Whether it's nightmares or breathing problems, there's no difference. It is entirely the parents fault
and they have no right to complain. If an underage kid joined my session in a MATURE rated game, I would not censor myself at all! Why should I? They shouldn't be playing the game in the first place! Do the parents then have the right to yell at me or file
a complaint with Microsoft? No they *** don't! They were the ones who exposed their kids to that environment and they need to accept the consequences! This needs to be made a law because parents are idiots! I don't care what a study says, it doesn't mean that
the problem doesn't exist.

 

It comes down to opinion. I think my son is mature enough to play certain games, you think there are no exception to the ratings you see. Can you really say that HALO, any of them, deserve a M rating? I don't think so. I feel that my son is mature enough
to play DR3. That is my opinion, and my choice. Nobody has the right to say I do not have the right to make that decision. But I also PLAY the games that I allow before I allow him to play. I do police things. I do not just go out and buy any game he wants.
Yes we do have the right to file a complaint if you do not censor yourself, because talking like that in any game is against the TOU and COC. The LIVE service is a family service. You agree to the TOU and COC when you buy your subscription. Foul language is
not allowed on the service even if you are in an adult related game. I have filed several complaints against people for language. Most were adults.
