    Why am I Unable to Access Modern Warfare II Game Modes Despite Active Xbox Game Pass


    Dear Microsoft Support,

    I am experiencing a persistent and frustrating issue with accessing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on my PC, despite having an active Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription, which is supposed to include full access to all modes (Campaign, Multiplayer, and Special Ops) as part of the service.

    Summary of the Problem:

    When I open the Call of Duty launcher on my PC, I can only access DMZ mode. For all other modes (Campaign, Multiplayer, and Special Ops), the system displays a “Purchase Modern Warfare II to access all game modes” message—even though these modes should be available with Game Pass.

    What’s more confusing is that:

    • The Game Pass logo appears on other titles like Modern Warfare III and Black Ops 6,
    • But not on Modern Warfare II, even though I downloaded it directly via Xbox Game Pass.
    Error Message Displayed:

    System Information:

    • Laptop Model: Dell G15 5515
    • Operating System: Windows 11 Home, 64-bit
    • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H
    • RAM: 16 GB
    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050
    • Internet: Stable mobile hotspot at 8–15 Mbps
    What I’ve Tried Already:

    1. ✅ Verified and repaired all game files using Xbox Live.
    2. ✅ Rebooted and updated my PC.
    3. ✅ Ensured my Xbox and Activision accounts are properly linked.
    4. ✅ Signed out and back into Xbox.
    5. ✅ Uninstalled and reinstalled selected game components.
    6. ✅ Checked Xbox Game Pass entitlements and billing—my subscription is fully active.
    7. ✅ Reviewed the list of installed content packs—everything that should be included appears installed.
    Despite all these steps, the game still asks me to purchase the full version to play core content, which defeats the purpose of the Game Pass access.

    Request for Support:

    • Please confirm whether Modern Warfare II is fully included in Xbox Game Pass for PC as currently stated.
    • Help me restore access to all modes included under the Game Pass entitlement.
    • Clarify if there is any content migration or update issue with how MWII is packaged via the unified Call of Duty HQ app.
    • If this is a known bug, please escalate or share a workaround.
    I am committed to staying within the Xbox ecosystem, but this experience is diminishing the value of my subscription.

    to my knowledge access to everything requires gamepass ultimate, gamepass pc just gives you access to the campaigns. (for CODS that is).

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues playing the Campaign of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Following the latest Call of Duty update, the MWII campaign was relocated from the main Call of Duty HQ to its own distinct DLC in order to reduce the size of the HQ's file.

    I recommend launching the Edge browser app on your console and typing in the following URLs if you're experiencing trouble playing the MWII campaign after the most recent update:

    ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9P3V60BZVT4K

    Following the latest update, searching for these URLs will bring up a Store page with the DLC you must download in order to play the MWII campaign. The Campaign Pack 1 and Content Pack 1 DLC should be downloaded to your console.

    You should be able to access the MWII campaign from the Call of Duty Home menu as usual after downloading these DLC items.

    Yes. You will need a Microsoft Account to download games from Microsoft Store or Xbox, and play them in Online mode.

    However, neither the Vault Edition nor the Cross-Gen Bundle of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II is included with Xbox Game Pass. Therefore, you do not need an XGP membership.
