Why am i not allowed to play games owned by my home xbox account?

I understand you need help on your games being shared.

First, try doing a reset on your console and set up home Xbox again to the account that has the subscription and games you want to share on the console.

Let's refresh the console's system cache.

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select System.

4. Select Console info

5. Select Reset console.

6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

After that, please do home Xbox again:

Make sure you are signed in to the account that has games and subscription.

Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.

To make this your home Xbox, select Make this my home Xbox.

Once done, sign out then sign in to the other account and try to play the games. Check if they are already shared.

You can sign in with your account on any given Xbox console and play Whatever title that you own from your digital library. This also allow for friends, when you're signed in to your account, to play these titles, but also be able share the advantage of
your gold subscription.

There's a good reason why it's named "My home Xbox" and not Everybody's home Xbox.

The console where he is able to play the games you own on is the console that is set as your Home console, this will allow other accounts on that console to play the games your account owns. Unfortunately only one console can be set as Home console at the same time and the Family account settings do not do anything with the licenses to games that your accounts owns.
The account that owns the games (your account) will be able to play games on any console, but that will not be the case for any other accounts within the family.

Best thing to do is to see on which console your son will play (the most) and have your account set that console as Home console. Since this will allow other accounts to play the games you own. Keep in mind that you can only change Home console 5x per year, since it's not advised to be switching it a lot.

Hey there,

In order to play digital games, the account that owns the game must be signed-in. That other Xbox One console you played the game on may have been a different accounts home console, which would allow you to play without owning.

No issue! I game share with my brothers, and when I am on my own Xbox, I can play the same game that they're playing, even without having two copies. Part of why my family's Xbox is set as my home console is so we can do that.
