Why am i getting lots of messages and FR's from randoms?

I gave my X1 to my daughter over a month ago as it's now only used for her to play Minecraft. As you can see, there is still an active gold membership attached to my account, so all online services are still active. However, because of her age we have
never allowed her to access the online features on Minecraft, nor do we allow her to go into the game world of others. Yet since she began playing Minecraft it's as if doing so has opened up some sort of public hub and live chat feed. I cannot for the life
of me see how i can deactivate it. The reason I suspect it's something to do with Minecraft is because all these randoms have played it at some point. These messages still pop up when those other people are playing other games.

There are no parties active that i can see. Nothing. Yet these messages still appear umpteen times a-day. These aren't spam bots, they're actual gamers doing what gamers do. I, myself haven't touch the xbox for months now so not sure if some sort of social
hub was added via an update. Any help how to deactivate this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't want a slew of messages and FR's from random people. I would find it more annoying than anything.

Actually i agree with "LegendofGTA". Im getting a ton of FR's lately also, so please just let me know if you're from this thread.

Have you went into your settings and go to network and check go offline option?

 

Cheers. I know about this. I want to stop all these messages for when the xbox is online. Never used to get inundated with these, but it's like I'm now a member of some social club without actually having joined one. Getting messages asking if I want
to team up for games I don't even own. I have blocked a lot of people, but for every person i block, 10 more seem to take their place.

I know on the PS4, if I join a public group, say for example Borderlands 2, I'll get messages such as these. I know how to stop them (by leaving the group or unticking non friend messages from within groups). I have joined no social clubs/groups on LIVE,
so I have no idea why xbox live thinks I want to see those messages from strangers.

 

I forgot to add. There has been no suspicious activity on my account. I've even changed my password just to be sure, but everything is as it should be.

 

Maybe she's playing the new "battles mode". It's the online portion where you can now play people and they do not need to be friends. It's the same with my son.

 

Thanks brandiesel, I'll check that out when i get home. The only thing I'd say against it being that, she's never had anyone in her world nor does she get to go into other gamers worlds. Looking at my download list, there's nothing relating to battle
modes (unless part of it was introduced via an update), just the skins we downloaded for her. The reason for mentioning that, I spotted there are two dlc battle mode dlcs on the marketplace, but they've not been purchased. Whatever it is, it's related to
minecraft because they all have that in their recent history.

 

Battle mode was added through an update where you can play three maps, since I've played I to have got a few friend requests so maybe that's it

 

Yeah Microsoft added an update and new feature. I play mc too. The game is at the top of the xbox live activity charts and the battle menu in mc (minecraft) lets you play with peeps not on your friends list. Before this update, having to be friends with
someone in the game was mandatory. It still is, but not with the mini game. Tonnes of peeps on xbox live play minecraft. When I first got minecraft I got tonnes of friends. I have a full friends list on xbox 360. If she is gona play with anyone make sure they
dont grief or steal. Greifing put simple is someone who causes trouble and breaks stuff.

 

Thanks to the people who replied, I've managed to sort the issue. It was the battle mode update. Can't remember exactly what i did, but I unfollowed the hub thing and turned something else off. All messages and FR's now stopped. Again, very much appreciated!!!
