why am i denied from editing my own thread?

i submited thread, read it, realised made few typos so click edit, made notes then submit but tells me im denied from editing this thread? why give you the option to edit when ur denied?

Weird, I just tried editing my own post to put more info in and to clean it up a little. I clicked post, and it said "Access Denied" . I can't say thats ever happened. Oh well, what I was trying to add was that my billing info is all correct, (It let me
purchase the points in the first place) and that my region is correct, US, and has never been changed.

 

3.5mm earphones only usable as a microphone

Editing here because my editing permissions keep getting denied.

1) I recently found out that earphones CAN be used as microphones and it wasn't some ruse or something.

2) I shone a light down the 3.5mm port and could clearly see a gold/brass material, probably to connect my earphones to the device. I could barely see another but I couldn't see any others. Is this where the problem is?

 

You must do any editing within a few minutes of posting, otherwise it will deny you.

^Did you press the button within 60 seconds, but then take much longer to edit the post? Even if you make the edit time to get into the edit window, you can still fail to edit within the time limit. That's all I can think of.

 

Did you add the pointless "edit notes" that they force you to do? Maybe that's why. But yeah it kind of lame that they won't let you edit your posts.. I don't see how that would be a problem at all... but they own the forum thus they can do as they wish.

 

Well phooey, I say! It's a poor choice for forums, if you ask me. Virtually every other forum in existence that I know of allows you to edit your posts. Why input a limiter? As long as there's a footnote of it being edited and all pre- and post-edited versions
of the posts are visible to the moderators, it should be okay to allow.

 

I had this discussion in my previous thread and with Bowski in PM. The funtionality of these forums is garbage and the places like Reddit have better funtionality and now even have official xbox support. It's no wonder it's a ghost town here and more and
more people choose other forums to hang out at. The funtionality of this place needs immediate action.

 

Ripp, what, if you don't mind me asking, did Bowski have to say about this place's functionality needing immediate action? Feel free to PM me if you're not entirely comfortable sharing here (and Bowski, you're welcome to do the same if you read this).

 

Free offerings like ProBoards have a better functionality than this forum.

Telligent really dropped the ball. The sad thing is that before they switched to this forum software they ran a beta to find issues and most of them are still present with this reskin.

I refuse to believe that Microsoft or Telligent are happy with the current state of the forum. Which makes it even more baffling as to why they seem to be doing nothing about it.

Personally I think the edit time on posts is long enough though. If the post is long enough that you can't make corrections inside a couple of minutes then it would be a better idea to spend a little more time on it before hitting the Post button.

I hope the mods don't lock this thread. Some forum feedback doesn't belong on xbox.uservoice.com but on the forum itself.

 

It is true that I should probably use the "preview" feature more often to avoid that edit limit...

 

I personally like that you can't edit your posts/threads after a specific time. We've seen some real idiots post here (or normal people make idiotic posts). I like that they are forced to be unable to edit the garbage they've spewed.

 

Edit notes are pointless anyway, I usually just randomly hammer the keyboard and input gibberish and it still accepts the edit. Pointless with a capital P.

 

Time limit is there for a reason. It lasts long enough to correct spelling and small things like likes. Having a forum that allows you to edit forever just welcomes trouble.
