Who's Evolving Tuesday?

You could create a game and invite me.

We could play any mode you wanted just us.

We could be hunters together or one of us could be the monster against hunter and bots.

We could go online and have the game match us up with 3 other people so there's a full human contingent in game.

When you play with the public you are invited to rank your preference of class in order and the game will assign your class based on that.

Works pretty well and most people playing publicly are using mics too.

 

Genchy, I'm pretty sure you can set up a custom match how you want, so you and a mate against/with bots. Haven't tried it yet but saw some YouTube vids where I'm sure that's the case.

In the Custom game you can set the difficulty to give yourself an advantage, change the number of strikes a player can have etc...

But a good way to get to grips with stuff on solo or get a feel playing online is to play Evacuation.

In this mode the outcome of the map gives a bonus to the winner on the next map.

As the monster I won the first hunt. The ensuing damage caused a bunch of striders being bred by the colonists to escaped and there was a surplus of Monster Snacks for me in the next game map.

At the same time it also auto balances so if your side loses you get a bit of a boost in the next round.

Don't think everything is over just because you lose a match, or even a series of matches. The game is well designed when it comes to evening the playing field and keeping things even.

 

Yea first Evacuation I did i lost the first three matches but won by winning the last two, it is cool how the variables affect the next game.

 

The more I play of this the better it becomes, had an awesome game of Evacuation last night (until I got overan with monsters) Has anyone got any tips for Nest matches, I cant seem to get more than one egg before I meet an untimely end.

 

One trick is to keep playing.

Like you say the more you play, the more you discover you can do and the more fun you have.

But also you unlock bonus perks. I've just unlocked a +55% feeding increase for the monster and a +55% Jetpack recharge for the Hunters so higher levels = better skills.

As the Hunters you might want to consider increased damage perks instead of increased mobility perks since you need to do big damage quickly for each egg.

Use your mini map. If a Minion has just been spawned... the Monster is probably going to go for the nearest next egg.

As the Monster you might want to pick a target with the Hunters and concentrate on making that target the weak link. Harass the hunters and let chip damage add up over time.

Those are just a couple of suggestions but the more you play the more you discover.

 

@Genchy, are you playing with Bots? Also, do you have Ciara unlocked? If so I would switch to her when doing Nest. That burst speed gets the team around Nest & Rescue mode quick! I don't even worry about the monster unless it comes to us and I rather be
in charge of the healing in those two modes.

On another note, I took two days off from gaming (it's been really cold and cold makes me sleepy lol) and I finally played this morning, was awesome! I think I have better luck with randoms when I run Medic. That way I know the healing and reviving will
get done lol.

I think Evolve certainly has an interesting concept. That said, the videos of the game play hasn't really moved me in one direction or the other. I am certainly going to be keeping on eye on it and once it hits a price drop or two, I may give it a shot.

 

The videos of gameplay have actually interested me what little I have seen. But I have decided not to buy because the few I know with the game are pretty much done already. They played a lot for a week or whatever and are ready to move on. Said they just
got tired of it although they said it was fun at the beginning.

I've only played bots and still loving it, only thing that I don't like is the character unlock system. Would like to play a game with real people but I rarely jump in with randoms. Will look out for you playing Hog!

for those on the fence, the gameplay vids don't really convey the fun of the game, it's difficult to put a finger on but it just has something going on, it's even fun losing!

 

tCruzin4lyfe, those stats are interesting, especially the fact that the win/loss ratio for the monsters vs. hunters is almost dead-locked at 50/50. I bet the developers are stoked by that number as it is a testament to the design and balance of the game.

 

Nice one Hog saw you unlocked that yesterday. Yeah Genchy I agree about the character unlock, I'm not a fan of support or assault classes (yet) so they are going to take a bit for me to level up. I know a lot of people got the unlock all character thing
on release as a bonus, but hey ho it'll get me used to playing as the different classes.

Such a shame this game got so much bad press - a lot of people are missing out on some good fun because of sites like metacritic etc poisoning opinions.

 

^^ Exactly but so glad there are many who enjoying the game. About leveling, on the bright side it really doesn't take long to unlock other characters at least. It took me one Evac round to unlock Bucket. It actually made me like Hank again Cabot is
stillby far my favorite Support but they are all pretty good. I would probably run Hank before Bucket even.

Now I also unlocked Griffin and wow, I really dislike Maggie lol. I love her when the AI controls her but I don't like to use her. Daisy is nice but I much prefer Abe, Stasis Grenades is all I need lol. I haven't tried Griffin yet so I can't comment.

I'll probably be using a variety of different people now but my mains will remain the same. Parnell for Assault, Lazarus for Medic and Cabot for Support. IF I have to run trapper I will run Abe.

Quick question, does anyone know if there's a max level? I just hit 35 and was curious.
