Whirring noise?

Hi, never had a problem with my console till yesterday, it just started making whirring noises whenever it is turned on, the one is on a hard wood floor with plenty of space so it shouldn't be a ventilation issue, not sure what the problem is but it's really
annoying, trying hard reset and everything as well, any help please

is it a slim model? if its an original xbox could it be the fan? i know my fan was whirring then a few weeks later i got the red ring of death but that was on the white console and that damn console is still going strong and its 6 years old now

well i went and let my system sit for a moment, the tested it, the results were (ill provide the games for reference)

with an the original problem game installed (skyrim) after several moments of playing the whirring sound started

a test with a less intensive game (fight night round 4) the whirring sound wasn't there, but there may have been a slight high pitched noise i didn't recognize, though its hard to tell with how loud the Xbox 360 usually is

a purely downloaded game (tell tales walking dead) produced no problems

so im stumped as to what it could, i figured that it would go away with an install, or would be present for all disc games, but this has just made it more confusing for me. if anyone has some further insight it would be appreciated

 

check and see if there is any dust in the vents. I like to take a vacuum hos to my console every once in a while to clean it out.

 

Can you try leaving the console on for 30 minutes without any interruption and see if the noise changes or goes away thanks.

If not then lets reset the console but lets keep your games and apps installed settings - System - Console info & updates - reset - reset and keep my games & apps

 

@MaximumExtreme I will see later when i get homr but it's honestly pretty new still, only 4 or so months old, still looks slick and everything, if I find no dust what would you advise?

 

Oh yeah then don't worry about the vacuum then. I thought you had an older console. Try a hard reboot by holding the power down on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug the power brick from the console and outlet for 5 minutes then plug
everything back in and power back on and see if you still here the noise. Make sure it's not the power brick making the noise as well. Sometimes they tend to go bad. If the hard reset doesn't work then I suggest doing what Purple mentioned but make sure you
choose to keep everything or it will be deleted and you will have to start from scratch again.

 

@MaximumExtreme How would I know if ts the power brick? I hear something running in there as well but that's possibly as intended, the main noise is coming from the console
