While playing Destiny loose wireless connection and One will not reconnect until unplugged??

Is anyone else having issues where their Xbox One will lose connection to their Wireless network after playing Destiny (Only live game I play currently but may be any Live game) for any random length of time and will not reconnect until the Xbox One has had
the power unplugged (I am guessing this causes a Hard Reset of some kind).

I started troubleshooting thinking the issue was the wireless router. No amount of router resets or creation of unsecured wireless connections both standard or 5G fixed the connection issue. No other devices on the wireless have an issue and there are at
least 6 devices connected most of the time. Router is a Netgear Genie.

When the disconnect happens (So far) it has only been while playing Destiny. This has not occurred with Hulu, Netflix, Xbox Video or any other online features at this time. The connection will show up under available connections but upon trying to reconnect
it will come back and tell me it can not get an IP address. If I completely disconnect from wireless and try to recreate the wireless connection the Xbox will repeatedly ask me for the network password. When I tried to unsecure the connection the Xbox goes
back to unable to get IP address even after router has been reset.

Any ideas before I go spend some money on a new router even though everything else seems to work fine with it except for the Xbox One after playing Destiny?

Losing wireless connection while playing Destiny

Hey all,

I've seen other topics on this but no resolution. I've owned XBox One for 2 days now. Twice today in 15 minutes while playing Destiny I lost connection, and the console would not reconnect to my wireless connection, stating password was incorrect. Only by
unplugging console (not router) was i able to reconnect. Two laptops in same room on WiFi with no issues. Whats the story? I can't play like this, and i have no ethernet connection available.

I can't believe this has been going on unresolved since 2014. I have the same issue (random disconnects form xbox live) but it happens no matter what I'm doing. Whether watching a movie or playing a game, I can be assured that at least once per day my connection
will go down. Its not my wifi as I have 9 other devices working pretty much flawlessly on my connection and in testing I'm far above the minimum requirements for the xbox to connect and stream. I'm starting to remember why I left the windows ecosystem in the
first place.

 

Just happened to me today also, thanks for the tip to unplug.

I am connecting on my Xbox 360.

I was also playing Destiny on the XBone, lost wireless network settings and would not reconnect.

 

I doubt it is your router, I have an AT&T 2-wire router and have never had a problem until today.

Seems like Xbox Live has an issue with Destiny, or the Destiny patch I had to download this a.m.

I play Destiny on PS4 as well, with no issues.

 

Same thing happens to me and only while on Destiny. I try to reconnect to my network but it won't recognize the password unless I hard boot the One. Only after a hard boot will it allow me to reconnect. In California using Comcast and have no other issues.

 

Same issue here. I get a destiny error code, like weasel for example. After that my Xbox disconnects from my wireless network and the password will not work to get back on wifi until I unplug my Xbox. This happens several times a day and started about
a week ago.

 

Same issue. Happens at my house and my girlfriend's house so definitely not my connection

 

This happens a lot in Destiny and may be a developer issue. You should check out Bungie's forums to see if others are experiencing the same issue.

In the meantime, when this happens you do not need to unplug the console. Simply hold the power button for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

 

Minneapolis MN problem happened last night and just tried now, same results. I haven't unplugged from the wall- however reading the above post I hope this with fix my issues of my network not excepting my password. I have multiple devices that I just reconnect
with no issues. I was also online playing Destiny and Comcast is my provider.

 

Same problem here. Made me think my xbox is having issues, but only happens while in destiny, either managing items (like dismantling) or after leaving fireteam. Only seems to happen within first 10 minutes or so of gameplay.

 

Still having the same issue but only seems with Destiny. No idea how destiny is adversely causing my Xbox one to fail to reconnect to my wireless or what caused it to happen at all but it must be something on their end. Hope they get it fixed soon. It's
very annoying. Thanks for the tip on holding the button instead of unplugging the Xbox that is much easier.

 

Having the same issue. I ran through my whole network trying to figure this out and honestly it has to be the Xbox. I read reports of alot of Ones with bad wifi boards. 1-800-4MY-XBOX fixes hardware problems like this but have yet to send mine in. However
i did send them my Connect thing and they "fixed" it. Just gave me a new one and prob repaired mine, cleaned it, and resold it. Just some more options rather than spending money on new network gear.

 

This is an old thread, but I've seen this problem a lot while playing Iron Banner/Trials of Osiris/Crucible in Destiny on my Xbox One. This guy found and caught some cheaters that seem to cause these symptoms here:

As some other members mention above, clearing your MAC Address may be a resolution to getting back online, but it's always worked for me to just hard restart my Xbox One by holding the power button until it restarts
