    Yeah, Feel free to play any single player game that does not have constant stat tracking or their own servers like a lot of EA games that use EA nation. Example, games like Resident Evil or Saints Row wouldn't let me play and download since those games are
    always connected, even though you are playing single player.

    While I'm downloading a game on demand or a game's dlc, is there anything I can do on xbox that wont stop the download?

    If you have the console set to Instant On (Settings>Power&Startup) then yes, if you start downloading anything you can switch the console off and it will continue downloading.

    If the console is set to Energy Saving the console will switch off fully and stop the active download.

    basically all you can do is stay on the dashboard and talk to friends on chat. besides that whatever you do will cause your download to stop.
