which pass do I need?

Hi

My son had his xbox for his birthday and got vouchers for ultimate, during which time, he downloaded Ace combat 7. The ultimate has now finished, and we are looking at renewing a subscription but are reluctant pay £11 per month for a 10 year old to play
3 hours per week.

Ive been looking at live and game pass and Im a little confused, as live seems to have 2 game access each month anyway? Is this for any game, or specifics each month?

If he wanted to continue playing the game, does he need the game pass, live, or do I have to shell out for both on the ultimate to continue to play it?

He's also got Forza horizon 7 which came with the xbox, but even that doesn't seem to want to play without being online? Is that right? Does he need an online subscription, even though he has the game?

And the cheapest place for an Xbox Live Gold 12 month subscription in the UK at the moment is £40 from AO,

£10 cheaper than anyone else including Microsoft.

Gold is what allows you to play online.

Game Pass is like Netflix for games. You get access to a library of games you can play from. You do need Gold if you want to play online in those games.

Game Pass Ultimate is a bundle subscription of those.

So if your son is looking to play online, he would need Gold. If he's only playing games he owns, he would not need Game Pass.

You do get Games with Gold games each month which are 4 free games (2 360 and 2 Xbox One). The free One games require that you keep Gold in order to play them for free. There are new games each month, but once you've claimed them you can play them at any
time as long as you still have Gold.

Forza 7 can be played without Gold. If he had downloaded it through Game Pass, that may be why it's asking for a subscription though.

That's correct. And if he ever wants to start playing other games, you can always purchase Game Pass/Ultimate later.

So, it sounds like he just needs gold as he has both Forza and the flight sim game he plays?

The A type is the standard for most video devices for home use. Your Slim, DVD player, Blu-Ray player and PC all use type A.

All versions are backwards compatible.
The 1.4 version will work but is not necessary as the console cannot utilize the Ethernet functionality or the 3D support if your TV in not 3D capable.

Don't waste money on premium cables or gold plated this or that. Just go to your local store and find a length that suits your needs.
