Which Internet speed is recommended?

Hello everyone, lately me and my fiance have had some expensive cable Internet bills. So my question is we now have the highest speed Internet that bright house offers which is 90 mbs. Which is great but we usually have our tablets on or phone wifi. Along
with my Xbox on playing. What is the bare minimum speed do you guys recommend so that everything runs stable and no lag or poor service? Thanks in advance!

I would try contacting time warner and upgrading the speed of your internet. I used to have this problem a while back and it was due to a low internet speed which was causing my disconnection.

The best connection you can get is hardwired broadband.

But Wifi has it's perks, especially if you're using other devices at home as well.

Remember, the more stuff you log onto your Wifi, the more you're taxing it.

Best thing to do is just try it out and see how your gaming goes.

It's a myth that you need a Corporate Broadband package for online gaming. Home broadband is more than enough.

 

I was using a 20m connection and it worked great, I could play on Xbox Live with my wife streaming to her laptop and my roommate streaming at the same time, I recently went up to a 30m connection just to get a higher data cap.

 

Yeah i was debating to switching over to the 30 or 60 just because she uses her laptop and iPad frequently and is notorious for leaving it on.

 

I've watched my bandwidth usage while playing Titanfall and it never went over 1m up and down together, so really unless you're planning on downloading most of your games a 30m connection will be fine.

You can also check your router, most routers have QoS (quality of service) settings that allow you to either define how much bandwidth a device can use, or have the Xbox set to have priority over other devices.

 

A plan with a large download quota package, a wired connection and lastly a decent upload speed.

 

depends.. going digital or disc.. I believe the recommended speeds from MS is something like 6/3.. but WHY would you do that to yourself... was a video of some guy playing titanfall on an open wifi and he was connected at some insane low .5MB DL and he had
no lag (welcome to the cloud) anways... like I said.. if you are just going to game for XBL.. you can as low as is available.. if you stream (which you probably do) and want digital (which you probably will) it is all preference... DL a game in 20 minutes..
or DL the same game in 8 hours...

 

I usually don't dl any games unless it's a small market place game. If 30 mb is more than enough I'll just switch over. I'm tired of paying damn near 180 for had channels and high speed when using 30 is enough

 

think about this DA.. during the life span of the X1.. the % of disc to digital will grow... become even and Digital; will surpass disc.. the better faster your speed.. ALWAYS the better... I am in the same boat.. I have IO101... 100/50Mbps.. do I need that
much speed.. no... can I get by with less... yes... will I downgrade... probably not...

 

Lol your guys internet connections are crazy lol. 30 and 50 mbps hahahaha I bet it feels like god mode online. Congrats I guess if you need that advantage

 

Well, I can certainly tell you that having 6mbps down/1 mbps up isn't enough between myself, my brother, & my mother if I'm playing games & they're both streaming HD video or uploading content on separate devices.

 

I would say a minimum of 8 mbps down, we have 15 mbps down, we used to have 8 and it was ok, but not great, since switching to Sky and getting the higher speed it's better, way better, and we get fibre at the end of the month, that should be amazing.

 

How come the evil teddy bear gets to be so lucky...? I want fiber...
